Show the factory knives you've customized ... part 2

it indeed looks like CF but without the nasty splintering habits when drilling and also does stink as much when profiling on the belt sander. Now if I can just find some more without having to buy a whole sheet.

It is a bit pricey but well worth it for the results !:D

Wow, it really is worth it. That Emerson Kerambit looks much better now. Now if you would only polish the black blade...:D

I am seriouslt thinking about it now... was hoping to wait til it gets some scuffs on it first , just to give me an excuse.....

though I am going to dad's today and there is this beadblaster sitting in his shop  ;)

Old Bridge, NJ. Its in MiddleSex county. I would love to take a trip down to AC to talk to a fellow knifeknut, but seeing as I'm 17 and get my car for the first time on Monday, I'm pretty sure my parents would kick my @$$! :D

been there done that... when I was 16 and got my car , told dad me and few of the guys were going camping for a few days....Lived in PA at the time....we camped out alright... under the Peir in Daytona.... 12 hours down and 12 back and 24 on the beach....

hehe... if they only knew :D

suck part is for my NJ trip I have to fly into Philly and drive to AC.

I can't top that... YET! But I've been borrowing my mom's car for 2-3 months and I've gotten as far as the Great Kills (sp?) section of Staten Island, NY to drop in on my cousins.

Bet you never saw a Ford Taurus station wagon hit 105mph on the highway though. ;)

Those are some of the most beautiful customised knives I have ever seen.

I am most envious. ;)

ok this will be it for me for awhile , getting ready to move to the new house and have to get everything packed for the move.

I honest can't think of another surface to compare it to. Hmm, Maybe someone else can come up with something to compare

How thick is the rayskin ? Is it easy to cut ?
also what adhesive did you use ?

looks pretty kick a$$ !!

It comes pretty thick. I used a Dremel to sand down the back of it. Then used an Exacto, Sissors, and nail clippers for the corners. When I started doing inserts I used superglue. DON'T we I shouldn't say that. I am the kind of guy that can get superglue everywhere just passing the isle with it in the store. I spent WAY too much time with cleanup. I am using rubber cement now. Its awesome. You can slop it everywhere, and when it drys in like seconds, just rub the excess off and your down. :)

thanks...gonna try to find some green rayskin and do some insert for the holes in the scales on my Karambit.

You might want to give a flavor of goop a try. Much stronger bond than rubber cement and very durable.

I will have to check that out. Do you think it will ball up and come off of Aluminum like rubber cemment? Thats my main concern, as mentioned, I am alittle messy and its very convient to be able to simply rub it off. I think it is definatly strong enough to hold them in place, but stronger is better if its quick clean up. When I screwed up some rayskin on another knife I had Rubber Cemented them in, It was actually a tad harder to remove them than the factory inserts :)
