Show us your grail blade !!!!

I don't have a picture of my grail knife but I sure hope that I can show it some day. For me my grail knife is one of Jim Schmidt's Goblin folders. Very rare, hardly ever available on the "open" market and probably a price tag I can't afford. But that is the essence of a grail knife...the road we have to travel to obtain it.

As we say in Dutch:"Het verkrijgen van de zaak, is het eind van het vermaak"; which means (freely translated): as soon as you get what you're after, the fun ends.

Very true statement... Reminds me of something from a Marylin Manson CD.

When all of your wishes are granted, many of your dreams will be destroyed.

This one would be mine. Bob Dozier folder in Mastadon ivory.

Doug, thank you for posting this, it's one I haven't seen before. I absolutely concur that this one is Grail material, wow!

Marcel, is this what you have in mind?

That hancock bowie shown above is also a grail knife to me. I loved it since I first saw that picture years ago. Crazy that Peter was able to part with it.

This knife is in my collection now and was sort of a grail piece to me. But now that I have it, I need to go even further next time.

Jonathan, please don't rub it in;). For the first time in years a Schmidt Goblin folder comes to the market at a time that most of my knifemoney is tied up in other projects. Would I otherwise have been willing to pay that kind of money...I don't know, but what I do know for sure is that that knife is pretty tempting (understatement of the year:D).

Great thread and some terrific knives. That Warenski Main Gauche has to be some kind of grail in the history of knifemaking. And man, every time I see that Broadwell / Foster it knocks my socks off all over again. STeven's Dixon fighter is a great example of a long held dream realized. Really good stuff across the board.

My grail is a bit different from others in that it's not the best knife I own or the best knife I could ever dream of owning. But if I could keep only one of the fine knives I own or have owned, this would be it.

I helped make it - along with Dan Farr and Matt Gregory over a sleepless, exhausting and unbelievably enjoyable long weekend. It was a microcosm of the knifemaking experience - with many of the highs and lows and challenges met - but made unique by being both compressed in time and shared. More than a knife was forged that weekend, and that's what makes it my grail.

I'm resurrecting this thread with another grail blade of mine. Here we have a Bill Bagwell custom. Oh yes the clip is scary sharp. Enjoy !!

Another grail blade one of Kyle's early works. He got an award for this one. The grain on this handle is amazing!

This is one of my grails. I don't own it and likely won't ever. It's by Rob Patton. I saw it at a local knife show, got a chance to hold it, got a chance to buy it. But it was just beyond my grasp price wise at the time. It stayed on my mind and made me save up for it. The next local show I returned to the same dealer to see if he still had it. It'd been sold.

i dunno as a maker im always trying to make the next one a little better than the last one....but i would have to say that my grail blade would have to be one made by Rojer Jones...or mudbone...
