Finally picked up a 25!

Also finished up a lefty drop sheath for my fireman. Tanned with harness oil then treated with snow seal. By far my best sheath yet.

New poster. I guess I can't post pics yet, but I have a Model #3 stag handled with/compass, and a Smithsonian Bowie with ivory handle. Apparently, Dad wasn't afraid to use them. Ivory handle is cracked (from throwing, according to my uncle), and both blades show signs of real use. No safe queens, these. Carl

Here are a couple of pics of Carl's knives:

Carl: Those are some of the nicest "users" I've seen. Good on ya!

Best,

Just cuz - cuz these are cool as heck and seldom seen.. :)

Full-tang Randall Model #15 'Airman' in the single hilt w/thumb notches 'Camp' configuration...

Found this one on eBay last month; watched it for a week then made a last minute winning bid. Much nicer than the original photos and description. Newer RMK Non-Catalog model #8-4 Old Style Trout and Bird (8x) - stainless steel blade w/thumb notches and sharpened upper edge, nickel-silver hilt, metal spacers, maroon Micarta handle in the Commando Model #2 shape, aluminum end cap, lanyard, and correct 8X stamped B model leather sheath.

With six options, it couldn't be ordered today due to the current five option limit. Much cooler than my photo shows; it fits the hand perfectly and looks a lot like a miniature Model #12-6 Little Bear Bowie. Good score, nice knife... :)

Exactly how long is that blade?

It looks longer than normal to me, which is why I think it maybe looks so much like a 12 - 6" Little Bear Bowie.

Standard, ~4", give or take a skootch - it's just the angle of the photo...

My next Randall, my grail Randall, is on order now. It's a 26-4 with a 25 style handle. Brass hilt and rounded brass buttcap, and most importantly, this undyed Box Elder Burl handle. :)

Fairly certain I haven't posted pics of this one yet, not in this particular forum anyway.

Model 12-8 Bear Bowie with nickel forward curved hand guards and leather handle. Purchased it from our very own Melvin Purvis.

Here is a comparison pic with a Becker BK5, very similar knives on the opposite ends of the price spectrum. Both very nimble/light in the hand, thin and pointy.

Nice wood L_W, and a nice #12-8 too, M26. Leaning towards the seldom seen RMK's myself, these days, here is just such a knife...

A quick pic as I deal with a little tooth pain, this one is pretty cool in my book...

5-6hue.jpg

The hue is a little off, but still - a nicely optioned RMK Model #5-6 'Camp and Trail' with a stainless steel bade, saw teeth / no saw teeth blade grind with sharpened upper edge, thumb notches, squared brass hilt, brass and black metal spacers, Sambar Stag handle with finger grooves, rounded brass end cap with lanyard, and black A model sheath...a seldom seen configuration, it's a very nice RMK...

Great pictures! Here is one of my favorites, the Doug Kenefick Sasquatch Bowie. This knife is a behemoth, the Hinderer XM 24 is next to the blade for comparison.

The Sasquatch has Desert Ironwood Handle, Forward Curved N/S Guard, spacers and butt cap.

I picked up a couple of older Model 5's the past week or so. One, the 5-7 I bought off the internet and the 5-8 at the Blade Show.

I was told by a credible collector, the 5-7 was one of the oldest he has seen. I think it is from 1946-48. The 5-8 is from the late 40's into the early 50's. But with
each bit of great news, comes, ahh BUT.... Neither knife has a sheath, so I am on the hunt for one or two Heisers. Searching is half the fun!!!IMG_0332.jpgIMG_0337.jpg
