Instead of spinning webs to catch prey, brown widows make shelters for themselves and their egg cases (the bumpy whitish roundish things). They especially like partially covered places, such as under the handle of a water bucket (shown below) or just under edges of things in general. Be careful where you put your fingers! At night, the brown widows come out to hunt.

We routinely clean out brown widow shelters, but I had gone way to long without taking care of this one.

If you believe the Internet, brown widows are about twice as venomous as black widows, but less aggressive (black widows are not very aggressive). This brown widow (towards the bottom left) is not aggressive at all on account of being dead.

Very similar to what redback spiders do here.
 
I woulda got run outa town if I carried a fixed blade to work! I could get away with it if I satay in the plant all day but I am just not lucky enough to never be in my office.
He who has the (Biggest) knife gets to make the rules..... haha
