Showing Off My Bucks

Here's a black linen Micarta...I really like how this one looks, but you have to have rounded surfaces to show off the layers of material...

Now I see what you mean! No, I don't think the 112 is conducive to that kind of effect since it is relatively square. As I mentioned it is still a nice looking scale, and has certainly proven to be more rugged than if it had wooden scales, given all the use it's been through.

Thanks for the close-ups Scott. Yours is actually the only other black micarta 112 I've seen in really good condition. I really think it's a sweet looking knife that was well ahead of its time back in 1972.

  ...Mike and Scott, Thanks for the pics. You both should be proud of the beautiful collections you both have...Does my envy show??...LOL...:)

I have a '97 112 here in front of me [project!], and looking at it, I was surprised that the blade pivot pin is way off-center...but it is the same blade butt as the 110, with the same butt dimensions, so that would follow...and the reason for the extreme "hook" on the front bolster isn't to keep your fingers off the blade; it's to shield the sharp corner of the blade (where the rockerbar bears)...

I was thinking of "dualing" a 112...but there's not much in the way of other blades for the 112, is there??? There never was a 422 drop-point, was there???

(IIRC, it was the 422 that was the 112 "Bucklite", wasn't it???)

...Hey Trax...If I'm not mistaken I believe they also made a 422 with a drop point...

Isn't the 442 also a "disguised" 112??...Blade: 3" (7.6 cm) drop point, 420HC Steel
Length: 4-3/8"

Thanks for the pic, Darryl!

OK, if someone wanted to make a two-blade 112, with a drop-point blade + clip-point, which 422 or 442 would he look for??? Just in case someone wants to try something like that... :D

There's a bunch of the 442's...prices are OK...that 422 has a clip-point...

I have the 112 rockerbar & spacer from the 110/112 dual...if either of the 422 or 442 drop-point blades will mate, I can do it...

Can anyone with both the 112 and 442 (or 422) compare the blades for me??? Like is the pivot in the same place, and do the rockerbars look the same???

Thankyouverymuch!... :D

Oh!...Sorry, Mike! Didn't mean to hijack your thread! I'll start a new one tomorrow! ;)
