• Happy Thanksgiving to all of you! I hope that you all have something to be grateful for this year and for many years to come
  • America has reached 250 years, and I am grateful to be here, in the best country in the world. Thank every one of you who helps make this country a better place, those who have gone before and risked it all, and those who've paid the ultimate price to make the United States what we are today.

Happy Birthday America! Let Freedom Ring for all time!

SHTF Gun

Beretta  To each his own ! I personally pack my Favorite - Glock19
I think that Glocks are THE handgun & second on my list is the M1911-A1:thumbup:
But when the SHTF & I need a firearm then the pistol will go on my side (as always) but my main goto SHTF gun would be my Mossburg Maveric 12ga ;)
the pump 12ga is the ultimate allpurpose gun:thumbup: it will eat all 12ga ammo & will take down anything in North America from 4 legged to 2 legged critters (with the correct load of course).
12ga pump
can't beat it !

This sounds like a 'prac crap' thread.

Personally, it depends on how much S hits the F and at what height and speed F is at and how well the S is distributed.

How much ammo would you carry for it? At 2.5 lbs per box of ammo, it gets heavy fast !

.

I second the Mossberg 12ga. I have the 'marinecote' version I bought in the late 80s. No longer use the pistol grip I had added the 'speedfeed' stock - 18 1/2" barrel - I good to go with 100 yards with Brenneke Slugs or 00/000 shot.

OH yeah, a Glock and a Mossberg pump! Can't beat that combo!

For me, it would be my Glock 23, and my Mossberg 500.

As far as the weight of ammo, I have a little cart that straps to my waste. I can walk around all day shooting zombies with that amount of ammo.

if im staying at my home it will be my Mossberg 20 GA Maverick with buckshot/slugs, and a ruger .22/45 P4, 4" BBL that im pretty good with. for longer shots i would have either a 10-22 with scope that i built as a "Laser" Gun, or an old scoped Mossberg .308.

if im forced to bug out i would take the Ruger P4 and a folding stock 10/22 with many 25 rnd mags and at least 1000 rounds for both guns. would also take my Springfeild M6 .22/.410 with about 200 .410 shells.

Shotgun is a fine tool until you get to real environment distances beyond 100 yards - and for the average person, beyond 60-70.

Rifle has advantage over shotgun.

My go to rifle is a SOCOM 16. 7 magazine minimum load out.

I train CQB and would take rifle over shotgun.

I love the shotgun, don't get me wrong, it certainly has its place in a defensive battery but for me it is rifle.

YMMV.

Glock 20, 870, and Bulgarian AK. Any one of those or all 3 if the S was REALLY hittin the fan;-) ......The 1911's and AR's would stay home.

This is my car gun, paired with a Glock 22. Mags and ammo interchange.

Once I get home, heavier stuff is available.

Remington 870. Double 00 buckshot. Like a post Ive read here before. "Just the sound of chambering a shell is adequate in most situations."
