I have looked at the Ultima 7, but I wanted something a bit bigger, the CRKT FE9 is the production version of the flesheater, so that is one if the ones I was looking at... The BK9 is looking like a good option though too
Are there any steels to AVOID with a knife like this? Most tool steels and such should hold up well, correct?
One other thing I'd like to add, looking into the Beckers, bravo etc, I'd prefer to not have a leather sheath
If you are going to fight you probably want something that is not 23oz, swinging that weight at 10" will be very cumbersome an also will get you tired after a few swings. The junglas could be a possibility... Anyone have experience with that?
Girlymann, what makes you say redemption over the Hammond FE9? Somewhat similar, though the FE9 is a bit straighter and thinner... I see what you're saying about the Japanese blades though
Busse NMFBM or the Anniversary Straight Handle Battle Mistress.
I would second the Junglas. It's cheap-er, easy to sharpen, solid grind, and has one of the best warranties in the business. Plus, for its size, it is not entirely cumbersome. I love mine, and have used it often with no problems.
Zombies... Besides, when the SHTF those who have prepared for this imminent inevitability will instantly gain three times their current strength, endurance, and visual acuity, among other Ninja qualities like self-confidence and good looks. Haven't you watched any movies over the past 5 years or so?Sorry but this is ridiculous. You are talking about swinging 29-32 OZ knives... hope you have used them for shopping some wood? If you have you should be able understand how heavy they get after a few minutes of use.
There is zero nimbleness in handling 11" blades if that weight.
