Signalprick/JWRitchie Knives Slipjoint Recovers, Mods and WIPS

My philosophy may be odd, but I think that honoring the Tradition involves submitting to its foundational principles while improving upon areas where the Tradition was limited in its knowledge or vision or abilities. Modern materials seem to fit into the “knowledge” and “Vision” categories. There is also a lot of ways to honor the Tradition with materials—how cool is it, for instance, to use vintage micarta that were part of something old and important but now obsolete except as materials for a tool that can honor the Tradition and history of our society. It’s pretty cool to me.
Yeah, I get that. I support progress.
I also recognize that we all have traits in knives that either speak to us or leave us flat. To each their own.

Just got this back from Jason today. Needed a bit of flushing and the pivot is tighter than factory, so will need some working in, but everything else is exquisite! I love it in hand. I like girth but for some reason the extra blades bother me. This single blade 86 makes for a perfect harmony in my opinion. Thanks for making it happen, Jason. I look forward to the next opportunity to entrust a knife into your hands.
Nice piece. Congratulations

Looks absolutely beautiful. Great choice on the shield placement. You were right it balances out the knife perfectly. I can’t wait to see it in person, thank you so much Jason :)

Just finished up another one of these GEC #86 bare end mods. Recovered in gorgeous vintage brown canvas and pinned badge shield. I'll say it again, I'm really jealous of this vintage brown. Much nicer than the stuff I used on my personal 86. I'd love to have a request for green canvas BTW. ;)

If I can land an 86 at a reasonable cost, I could definitely see a green canvas with a blade delete in order! Great work!

Nice craftsmanship Jason, that 35 looks nice but that 86 with vintage brown micarta looks really nice. I have a handful of 86s and you have me thinking about a single blade mod. Keep up the great work.

Thank you. If you have multiple 86's and none with a single blade. You need one with a single blade! Fantastic knife in that configuration. ;)
