SIGNUP: Spyderco Around the World Passaround

Mmhh, am i the only one having a bad feeling about this? Or are the whereabouts of the knife known?

Hope it surfaces fast :)

I got a pic of the parcel and especially of the address and some barcode, if that helps in any way.

In the end, if it is impossible to complete the delivery, DHL will send it back to me. Could take a while, though.

I'm sure Ed is all right and will answer as soon as he can.

Dennis

P.S. That sucks, anyway :-(

If the knife doesnt turn up, I'm willing to contribute to a replacement, if Sal will make one for us. I do hope he will though, because the idea has to live on and succeed.

My friends,
I just returned in the civilisation from the family vacation, and this with great expectations about our passaround knife waiting for me – but nothing… :(
I will contact Dave, call the local DHL office and start an investigation right now. One thing is already sure: my neighbour who irrigated our plants was informed about the expected arrival, was in contact with the postman, checked regularly our mailbox (I even left him an authorization to be able to pick it up at the post office, just in case), but hadn’t anything, there is no advice from the post office, and our postman didn’t see anything bigger than a common letter for me.
Further infos later...

Oh no,

that sucks big time

I will try to start an investigation from here, but my feeling is that there is no way to track it down, because the post office tricked me out and sold me a kind of shipping that was (a) more expensive than normal and (b) not able to be tracked. :barf:

I didn't realize it in time, and now we can't tell if the kife is on the way back to me because something went wrong or some DHL employee now owns a new knife

Ed, I will send you a pic of the parcel, perhaps this will help to clear things up on your side. Heck, what if the address was wrong?

I suggest we wait for two more weeks if the knife will show up back here; if not, I'm afraid we will have to ask Sal if he could provide us with another DPK. As I said, if he would charge us, I'm willing to contribute. I feel a little guilty :(

Let's hope this will turn out good.....

>post office tricked me out and sold me a kind of shipping that was (a) more expensive than normal and (b) not able to be tracked.

Oh crap… I thought I gonna be next in line

Guys, you're talking about the post office and international shipping.... this could take a little while :)

Investigation into undelivered package has been initiated. It may take a few weeks.

In the mean time, Spyderco did in fact make two us, just in case one went missing.

So we can wait, or we could start the passaround again. If we start the passaround again I would be inclined to send it to the person next in line _after_ the person that's still waiting on it. Or we could do something else entirely with who would be next.

Ideas?

Hi Dave,

personally, I would continue the chain where it was interrupted; that would mean that Ed would get a (TRACEABLE, INSURED :o) package from you.

And from now on, I'd suggest to pass on the knife ONLY this way (with a tracking number and insurance) as I should have done it in the first place :(

But of course, it's your passaround and therefore you decide what to do next.

Dennis

yeah, that's kind of my fault, I assumed that's how people would ship the knife.

Yes, and that's what I thought I had shipped it.

Crap. Never EVER use the internet to print out the postage stuff. I will boycot DHL until this package turns up again.

Dennis

Ok, still no word.

I'll dig out the spare knife and start again, I will be skipping Hungary and go to the next person in line, which I think is Mr Turnip, but I will have to confirm.

Oh - I think it might be a problem if you ship the knife to me from the US. I would have to pay taxes (approx 40$). The knife should be sent to me from a "EU member state", to avoid that problem...

Countries who are a member of the European Union (EU):

I didn't mention it during sign up, because you automatically put me after Hungary, which is a member. Sorry for the inconvenience...
