Mr, Turnip,

are you SURE that you have to pay customs for a parcel from the US when it is indicated as a "gift"? It doesn't make sense to pay customs for that kind of thing. In the end, you didn't BUY it from Dave, so you didn't avoid VAT (value-added tax), and thats what they want from you, I suppose?

Perhaps you could check that at your local customs....

Dennis

Yes I'm sure. My brother lives in Florida, so I have tried most - the value limit for "gifts" is very low, unfortunately.
Furthermore, sometimes I'm charged a "tax handling fee" (depends on the shipping company). It's about 30$, which is added to the tax...

So, shipping me the knife from US, is not a good idea. But any EU member state, is problem free.

Plan B, I thinking of restarting this with the spare knife in Australia. I have sent email to the AU people I have to confirm.

Just an updating: I already sent a letter to the post with the photos of the package that fortunately Dennis made. I didn't get answer yet. I will let you know if something happens.
I am surprised and very sad, as I made dozens of eBay, BF, internet shop and direct knifemaker buyings from the U.S and from other E.U. countries with no problem at all... Maybe this was just an exception? :grumpy:

It was indeed.

I use(d) DHL very frequently for national and international mailings, and NEVER EVER a package went missing. I am SO mad that it had to happen with this knife

but there is still (a very, very slight) chance that it will eventually turn up over there in Hungary. DHL refused to start an investigation about the package, so all we can do is hope.

I intend to start over with knife number two this week, whole new order starting with these folks in Australia:

Matt Black
TH232
Giant1

Note the knife does not lock and has a relatively small blade.

Just bring this up. Sorry I have been distracted, I expect to get the replacement knife sent out this week.

If you want in send me email, info is in first post.

Could not reach matt black via email, Th232 is up, I'll send you a email.

Ok, after many delays we're on our way again. Just left today for balmy Australia.

I have satwp email I need to respond to. I'll post an updated list soon.
