Sk-4.7!!!

I think it's going to be 01, edit, I forgot the whole part about it not being a very popular steel. I have no idea, but I do like the look of a nice patina!

I tried to do a quick search of steel that would meet the criteria...pish no such thing as quick... My vote is still out but I am more and more curious!

I've got a W2 flipper - Simeon Custom Knives Rhino Spur:

So I guess S7 is out of the picture?
Shame, I liked to have a general user in S7 steel, very tough and easy to sharpen.
Only a few custom makers are using this at the moment, so it's quite rare.

I think 80CRV2 will be the new steel.
Bit less tough but bit better edge holding than 5160.
It shows more up lately, among others I have some very affordable knives from Varusteleka in Finland with this steel.

I hope Uddeholm Caldie would be used because I would love to try this steel. (one can always hope ;) )

Z-Tuff PM steel is also interesting as a more wear resistant form of S7

CRUCIBLE S7
(AISI S7)

Crucible S7 is a shock-resistant air hardening tool steel, designed for high impact resistance at relatively high hardness. It offers toughness to withstand chipping and breaking, combined with high attainable hardness and good wear resistance.

Typical Chemistry
Carbon 0.55%
Manganese 0.70%
Silicon 0.35%
Chromium 3.25%
Molybdenum 1.40%
Vanadium 0.25%

Typical Applications
Punches and Dies Subject to Heavy Impact
Wire EDMed Punches & Dies*
Warm Forging/Heading Dies
Plastic Injection Molds
Shear Blades

You seem to know more about steels than I do! I will say, though, the old SK 4(.1?) used S7, so I'm thinking it is something different. Unless the "crucible" in crucible S7 makes it different. Glad you made your first post here

SO COOL!!!!!

A lot to be excited for! To see who they go to, to find out the mystery steel, for sales on these guys to open up. Woohoo!

I do like the looks of that coated blade. You think these will be available on the Monday sale??

Good question. I think they'll be available April or May but I have no clue if they're Monday Sales knives.

I agree, definitely not this Monday. The pictures 30 knives have to be sent out "over the next few weeks" then a little time for the lucky sons of b's for give feed back on the secret steel then they'll be available maybe in April.

But here is my newly formed question: are Monday sales the ONLY format for selling and buying from now on? It is, right?
