Sledge Hammers!

If you had read the rest of the comments rather than posting a snarky comment you'd know that my pictures were showing up as a small white box even though I did exactly as explained so a link that actually works and takes 1 second to click is a better quality post than a broken picture.

In fact I read the entire thread (more than once). How much attention did you actually pay to it?

Yes, your "efforts" to post pictures did not work. Isn't that why you started that post?

It's ok if you ignore my suggestions, but others have tried to help you and are probably willing to work with you until you are successful in your stated goal.

Asking for help and not following up on the efforts of others trying to give you that help seems at least rude.

Your suggestion was for using a computer, I don't use a computer 98% of the time. And I still hadn't figured it out till today when I saw the post from yesterday, I posted this link last night before I figured it out. I didn't have time to go thru every thread I commented on last night, I'd rather spend my time actually working on fixing up something than talking about it on the Internet. I posted the link in this thread right when I finished hanging the hammer, before I forgot to post it and then went to sleep. So you would prefer I try and post a picture knowing it will fail rather than post a link that takes 1 second to click? Cause I hadn't yet figured out what i was doing wrong I wasn't ignoring anyone's advices, yours just didn't help me (which someone else even said yours was confusing) and my question to clarify things wasn't answered till yesterday although I didn't see it till today, cause although I like this forum I do have better things to do most of the time. So it seems you're just causing a problem for the sake of causing a problem, if you actually read thru the whole thread you'd have seen I was continuously trying to figure it out since I asked the initial question, I didn't "not follow up on others suggestions" I tried, it didn't work and I asked further questions, just because I post something with a link before I've yet to figure out how to imbed doesn't mean I'm ignoring their advice, it means you're probably bored and want to start a problem.

Did somebody put a gun to your head last night to make you?

Then why do you post?

Let me see you post a picture.

Bob

Because some of the people on this forum are actually decent people and aren't a dick to people for no reason, which is why I posted it last night because I like sharing and seeing the stuff the decent people share. I didn't say I was against ever posting on the Internet, i just don't waste all my time on it. After working all days and then 3-4 hours working on tools I have no problem posting my work and talking to basically everyone else on here cause they're cool but I'm not going to scour every last past in case I missed something. And if you had read all the comments on that post like you claim to you'd have seen I posted one. But you must be really bored or really miserable to not only try and start a problem about this but to continue pursuing it also, I hope you figure your shit out so you don't have to spend your time being a dick to people on the Internet, especially when it's over literally nothing.

Jlemay18, I appreciate your posting your work. The internet is not obvious to everyone, I get it, and people have more or less patience for trying to figure it out.

You guys have both said your piece, I suggest letting that side conversation die.

Whoa boy! Lads; ease off on these emotional outbursts! Unless you're only on here to boast that one Dick is bigger/better/cleaner hung than the next guy's most of us are on here because we want to be and we're keen to share information and support each other's interests and hobbies.
But it is true that some of us aging or older duffers are newer to forums and computers (at least with regard to functions such as attaching pictures or adding links) than are others.

Sorry for contributing to the negative environment guys but just didn't exactly feel I deserved to be attacked for something I wasn't sure how to do and was in the process of figuring it out, but I guess he expected me to not post at all until then. Just seemed pretty unwarranted, the guy acts like I insulted his mother by posting a link to a gallery, but I was done wasting my time with that regardless of whether he did or not. I appreciate everyone else's understanding and help in figuring out posting a picture, I've never used a forum like this before.

I think they should continue to quote each other and offer point by point refutations for another 4 or 5 pages. That seems to be the norm on this forum lately.

Today in this thread:

How would I have known about the following when I entered #240 at 02:05?:
Good for you for getting it worked out.

Today in this thread:

03:35 PM #242:
In fact I read the entire thread . . .
But I will admit not today between 02:32 and 03:35. What can I say?

Because some of the people on this forum are actually decent people and aren't a . . .
Do you feel any better now?

I'm glad you got the picture posting worked out, I've been in the same situation.
When first joining another forum I was criticized because people couldn't understand someone being bad with technology , and I wouldn't do whatever it takes to get them posted. I wasn't willing to shell out for a different phone, or change email providers to use imigr instead of photobucket just because people I don't really know demanded pictures.

Anyway you said you believed that hammer is an atha, and it certainly is a nice one. That looks like a nice tight hang and it should serve you well.

Yeah I mean I have no problem simply clicking a link but figured I would save everyone the trouble and learn, but apparently posting a link after I had asked how to embed but before I totally figured it out is an issue with some people. But yeah it's in great shape I got lucky with it, didn't have a full length sledge and had an extra handle that would fit so figured I'd make use of it. I used a black walnut wedge on it so it looks awesome contrasting with the lighter hickory. I already had an Atha sledge I posted a week or so ago in here, picked it up at an antique mall in Vermont for really cheap but the handle is pretty short, probably a foot and a half but it's 8 pounds so it's tough to use it for certain things so figured another one would make a nice pair.

Here are some of my hammer handles. The large, middle one I finished last evening. It's an old wrought iron head with steel pucks forged onto the faces, notice the test chisel marks.

Could be worse, my grandpa's 4lb woodings Verona driller had a 6" handle 😁
I hung it on the foot and a half length that your 8lb Atha is on, let's see you try that sicker on a 6" handle 😉 in that case you'd be better off swinging a dumbbell.

I just did an old 3lb drilling head on an extra short hand carved handle. It's almost like just swinging your fist.

Woodings-Verona Tool Works ten pound bell pattern spike maul with curved handle. N.Y.C.R.R.?

That would take some practice to wield. Swinging that beast must have made the guy nervous who held the spike. I'ld have to use tongs. :)
