Sledgeh@mmer - very bad experience

"PayPal gift only" is a HUGE red flag. It screams, "Pay me in a way where I can totally screw you over if I feel like it!".

Boy another gift, I had one deal with sledge, package arrived blade loose in an envelope, not the way to ship. Not a good way to start in the forums.

20 posts, bad feedback, and ONLY accepts paypal gift. Furthermore he hasn't been online since the 10th of February. Unless something tragic happened to the seller it looks like you got screwed over my man. :(

Jozef,

You basically sent $220 in Cash to a member on only had a paid for the gold membership that day and 100% (1 of 1)negative feedback the month before you did it??
His negative feedback stated "need work on packing, knife has rock lock, took two weeks to get"

Sorry to say this but what were you thinking?? You screwed paypal and sledgehammer is screwing you..

Jozef,

Sorry to hear this bud. Looks like the last time he was active on the forum was the day you paid him ... on 10 February. Hope things work out. He has both PM and email linked to his profile. Did you try both?

Hi Dennis,
I sent him many messages = zero answer...
I wrote it here as a monition of this member - I know the chances of getting my money back is zero ...
J

OP, are you in the US? I can see that knife getting hung up in customs if this was an international deal. Doesn't excuse the sellers lack of communication, but it's something to consider.

No, the knife should be delivered to the US address...
Promised deadline for delivery was Friday, 02/14/2014 = Valentine's Day :)

Jozef . I feel for you. I hope you can shake it off. He will get tossed if he can't be contacted I would think. I'd say his purpose was to cheat someone. You should ask the Mods to try and contact him.
Josef someone might have contact information once he has had a chance to respond.

I hope it turns out he hit himself in the head with his sledgehammer. He has amnesia.
and eventually he will remember he has to ship the 62.

Seems like theres a lot of "pay me with the gift option" and little to feedback going on lately...this is something people need to be very careful with. Personally, I expect to see atleast 50-60 feedback before I even consider pp gift.

Hope you gret your money or knife.

I've just sent an email to sledgeh@mmer instructing him to make contact or ship the knife by 3/22.
If he fails in this, his account here will be removed.

Let us know if you hear anything, jozef.

Seems he got called out trying to sell a fake Strider and came up with some BS about getting it in trade from a non-existent member over at JD.

Incidents like this take on new meaning in light of current problems...

Yes they do, they had the Dirty SOB Pedro Valerio IV who is a security guard in Texas by the tale. If someone had just kept pulling. Maybe he could have been reported earlier.

hindsight we know

Not even then, IMHO. Sending PP gift to buy goods is defrauding PP along with removing one's line of protection. Unless it is truly a gift for family or friends, I won't use it. Those who say buyer pays the fees or add 4% (much higher than PP goods fees) are folks that I just won't do business with. I've passed on probably a dozen knives that I really wanted because of this PP Gift thing.

It seems to me that in my short time here that this tactic has become more and more frequent. I understand the site's take on this, but it is certainly a shame that something can't be done.

OP - I wish you the best of luck getting your money or knife. The mods will work hard to do whatever they can, although that may not be much in this case. And thank you for bringing this to the attention of the forum family.

This^^^

Just refuse to do it. Time to put an end to this BS....

More like: "Help me cheat PayPal by falsifying the nature of the transaction while leaving you with no remedy if I decide to screw you like you are helping me screwing paypal."

Why would anyone do business with someone who starts out wanting you to lie for him?
