Sleeping with Knives

I always have have a folder clipped in the pocket of my PJs. I have a Battle Mistress and a Glock 19 within arms reach when I'm sleeping. And I have two dogs as my alarm system. Nobody will be creeping about my place without finding trouble. There's nothing wrong with sleeping with a weapon close to hand- I'm betting it was considered normal until fairly recently.

As for spreading out your entire collection and then sleeping in the middle of it...... consider getting a girlfriend. They make much better sleeping companions than knives do.

When I was a camp counselor and sent my summers with a bunch of other mature teenagers I slept with my fold in case anyone got the idea to plastic wrap me in the bed. It happened to others and you just have to be prepared. But now, no, they live in my dresser.

That's actually a pretty good idea. May I should do that to my wife ;) Might take more than a few rolls of Reynolds wrap with a Cal King, though...

I keep a large fixed blade under the pillow. Its there mainly to prop up the sagging pillow and provide better neck support. Under the bed there's the machette and large wrench for security purposes, along with a 4 D cell maglite.

One is OK preferably nearby on the night-stand. Definitely when camping. All of 'em..... Hmmmm! Get a box to keep them in then you can use that as your night-stand at least if you have company they won't run screaming in the middle of the night.

I'd sleep with my knives, but there's no room for them after I get done loading all the guns into the bed. :)

But seriously, yes, you're crazy. Thanks for posting one of the most fun threads we've had on BF in a long time, though.

One or two on the nightstand along with a flashlight, cell phone, and watch. I don't think I'd want to wake up and have to super glue myself together, so none of them actually hop in with me.... ;)

If I hear a noise in the house the last thing I want to do is confront an intruder that might be carrying a gun with a knife.

Pistol in the nightstand - yes.

Knife in the bed - no.

I really can't think of any reason to have a knife in my bed on purpose while I'm asleep. I've fallen asleep with pants on and a knife in the pocket, but otherwise- no.

Anyone who sleeps with knives is crazy. I only sleep with one, my Krein Woodcarving knife! :p

I sleep with my knife in sheath next to me in a half opened backpack. What's the big deal? DON'T JUDGE ME!

Ok here are all my real life bedSIDE partners:

* CZ P-01 with Meprolights on the nightstand.
* Whatever knife I carried that day on the nightstand
* BOB with XD9 Subcompact with Straight 8 night sights plus more knives on floor next to bed
* HD Shottie against corner of wall about 5 feet from me.

Nothing goes IN my bed except my GF and me of course :D

I regularly keep one on the chair/nightstand by the bed.

I've fallen asleep with my pants on before, and my knife IWB carry. It's not impossible to sleep this way, but if you lay wrong it imprints on your hip (or wherever you carry) and can be painful in the morning. You could also risk bending your knife if it's thin enough and your sheath is flimsy. My sheath is kraton plastic (I believe) and very tough to bend unless heated.

.....no knives in bed for me; S&W Model 66-3 with a 2 1/2" barrel on the nightstand; that should suffice until I can get to the shotgun in the corner.

- regards
