SM-100 Myth debunked...

SM-100 has a lower coefficient of friction – which unto itself is impressive. On top of the lower friction, SM-100 has twice the life of the 440C.

The combination of high hardness, moderate elastic modulus, large recoverable strain, low density, and intrinsic corrosion immunity provide a path to bearings largely impervious to shock load damage.

Due to the super-fine microstructure of SM-100, extremely tight tolerances can be achieved to get your components to their most efficient grade. The microstructure also means that the components have a higher level of inspectability and better mechanical properties than the competition.

It does not have the aggressive cutting that most, if not all steels do, it does not have that "bite". I don't know if it is lack of carbides, or something else, just that it is a noticeable difference. Great stuff though!

Because sometimes I make knives and sell them here , we'll list them here.

And again you could of PMed me to ask me that and you didn't have to poke fun. This is just an assumption but I bet you don't know anything about sm100 either and that is my whole point about the forum and forums in general.

You misunderstand the concept. These forums are not technical discussions like a university course or an engineering department. They are virtual gathering places. Some are more focused on specific or technical topics, but the discussions are still between people who get to know each other. Many of us meet in real life.

Bladeforums is a community and the subforums are its neighborhoods. People often stop by to look in and see if the topic might be fun to learn. Everyone is welcome to join the conversation, until they behave disruptively or antagonisticly.
