Expensive doesn't mean good. That seems to be a main point of the old discussion.

I had an SM-100 knife. Was cool, but failed in the "batoning an I-beam test" so I started carrying an Opinel instead. Much better.
Has anyone who isn't selling it or a knife made of it published an evaluation based on testing?
Who do you really think besides Someone using the steel or manufacturing it is going to beable to conduct any type of test with constant and accurate variables. That an actually conclusion can be formed. This is my point this thread is useless besides a couple of gentlemen that proved some useful in formation everyone else should not have a level chimed in. In real life your the people that love to hear yourself talk and if we were standing in a group face to face would have your lips zipped.

I think the heat treat may have involved bodily quenching, and this is the result. It is an assumption, but that seems right in line with the process.Who do you really think besides Someone using the steel or manufacturing it is going to beable to conduct any type of test with constant and accurate variables. Frontmonth, it's possible that you had a piece of SM100 that had a bad heat treatment.

I respect your curiosity, but I think your time would be better spent learning to spell and working on your grinds. You resurrect an old thread and start kicking up crap in all four directions. Consider yourself ignored...
Ryss
Frontmonth, take a Xanax and chill bro.
I merely asked a question, jerk.
Great attitude to get help.
Are you sure you want to add Frontmonth to your ignore list?

I was disappointed when I was searching for information from google about SM-100 and this is what I Found. This Is not correct information. The title says myth debunked. You should either change the title to Moron has no idea what he is talking about sm-100. This information comes up in a google search. and is not relevant what so ever about any steel or metal. Thanks to gentlemen that know what there talking about and provided additional information. The guy in the you tube video is a moron thats not name calling thats his IQ. Sm-100 is very expensive to purchase.
Nobody said it was.

The original post said it may not be as great as the hype said.
You said the OP was wrong. You said it's expensive.
I said just because it's expensive doesn't make it good.
You replied that no one said that. Check the bolded portions I quoted from your post.
It's not a magical alloy. Just because it's expensive does not mean it's good. If you have information about how awesome it is then please share. If you don't, there's no need to be rude or claim the OP was wrong.
