Small EDC fixed blades

As part of an upcoming woodworking project, I'm assembling an assortment of fixed-blade EDC knives of no more than 7" in length. Although pricey blades aren't out of the question, I don't want to exclude anything based on price alone (high or low), especially if a particular knife shows great design or has proven itself among users. I have ideas of my own for this small collection, but as I do the research, I'm finding stuff I never even knew of. That's why I'd appreciate and will consider any suggestions you all have. The knives in this small group will be EDC'd daily as situation, dress, and mood dictate. Diversity of designs and materials are a plus. Thanks for your ideas.

If wood working is the main job the Helle Nying is nice. For all over EDC my pick is the Evans companion.

Sorry...I meant to say that I am building a knife case. That's the woodworking project. I just want suggestions for filling the case once it's finished. Sorry for the mixup.

I recently picked up an Anza with reverse elk scales that were dyed and stabalized, it's pretty wild looking. Blind Horse Knives used to put out some great little fixed blades before they split, you should check out LT Wright and Battle Horse Knives, I'm sure they are still putting out similar patterns. I really like the look of the Case desk knife but haven't had a chance to handle one yet.
Without a doubt my best looking knife was made by Bill Akers, you can check out his stuff here http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/forumdisplay.php/903-Backwoods-Custom-Handmade-Knives

Take a look at the JK Knives sale currently going on in the JK Knives sub forum linked in my sig.

I always like my small fixed blades custom made, because there affordable, one of a kind , useful tools.

Spyderco Street Beat is 0.18" over your size limit, but it's such a good knife that it's worth a consideration

As mentioned, JK Knives.

DCL is a maker that sells a georgeous Kwaiken and a couple others that fit the bill.: http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/member.php/319692-DCL-Knives

Michael Morris Knives has some very affordable knives that are ground from files. I have a "PeeWee" model. It measures exactly 7".

Bark River Woodland Special is 6-7/8" and has more available handle options than you can count.

I second the DCL tip....further, I highly recommend you go predominantly with customs....there are so many great makers right here on the Fixed Blades exchange that routinely sell sub 7" EDCs (though I personally prefer EDCing 7-10" knives), but as they're needing to fit into your casework, 7" it is....there are of course a # of production blades that fit that bill as well, & that's cool too, I just think customs are superior in every way, especially in materials used & creativity/uniqueness/soul, & the prices are often crazy low. Boom, opinion shared....best of luck with you're project - sounds like a blast!

Bark River has several models around 7 inches and smaller. Here are two examples - a Mini Northstar in stag, and a Fox River Featherweight in smooth bone (both right around 7 inches OAL):

LT Wright is another maker that comes to mind - he makes very nice small fixed blades. Definitely worth a look. Here's one of his more popular small blades - the Patriot in D2 tool steel:

For a small fixed blade, the Bradford USA Guardian 3 is pretty nice, several renditions are out there, my latest is a nice flat ground blade of CPM3v with his Nimbus blade finish which holds up pretty well too;

I added that embossing on their leather sheath, so it would normally be just plain leather.

Part of my daily carry set of knives, while the one folder moved on, the rest are still hanging in there;

And check out my review of the various Guardian 3's in this thread here

I highly recommend a knife from Gallardo Knives (JoshRG) who sells here and on instagram.

I would also recommend a neck knife from Murray Carter,

Here is a beautiful knife from Jarrett Fleming in CPMD2 that I use almost every day - he calls it the Itty Bitty Wharncliffe, and I call it the Brontosaurus. It is pictured next to the smaller Fiddleback Forge Runt.

Maybe you can fit something a bit different and incredibly useful on some corner of such project...?

I find this an awesome EDC combo as far as fixed blades are concerned. Incredibly useful and unobtrusive!

I doubt you can go much smaller...
