Cleaning up my friend's Camillus this afternoon, waiting for some more snow.

He still has it, but I told him to hang on to it 'till he has time. He's much more busy now so I may send him an Email. I can't really use it has it is, but I may work out a trade for some Micarta or somethin'....

That's a good-looking design. Buck's USA-made 420HC is actually fairly decent steel/HT for pure cutting. ASFAIK the famous Bos shop still does their HT... they know what they're doing. I wouldn't do any chopping/hacking/digging with it, but it does take a good edge and holds it pretty well.

So today I had one of the most enjoyable days I remember having in a very looong time. I have a aunt that is a nun. Her name is Joann, She joined the monastery when she was 18 years old. So, since she never married and had a family of her own, all of us kids. My sister, and three cousins. (My other aunts kids) have always been real dear to her and we've all been real close. Kinda funny though, on that side of the family, everyone as far as cousins, aunts, uncles, sister and so on are pretty well to do, I've been the only one that raised hell and has pretty much been hard headed and never was one to follow. I've always been her favorite, so much so, she'll even admit it to the family, lol. Guess she feels im her lifelong project.
Anyway, since she missed my birthday last week, she drove down today and spent the day with me. Just me and her. We started out talking and catching up, then we went for a drive that consisted of a muddy dirt road driving tour of the 8000 acre national wildlife refuge that's a,couple miles from my house. My grandparents had a 800 acre farm there, it was where my dad and aunt was born and raised and lived until the state pretty much ran them out. I learned more today with her about my family history and family tree that I thought I'd ever know. We finished off the visit with a great Mexican meal with all the trimmings, and a couple of cold beers, sad to see the day end. Nice to take a day off every once in a while, I could of easily talked with her for many more hours, but she had a fairly long drive home.

Sounds like a great time. It is always more pleasurable than one can express when you get to spend some time with the one person (blood or not) that you just click with.
I bet that one day will be ranked up there as one of the brightest parts of your birthday celebrations, and with good reason.

Whats funny about that is, (and maybe this is why im here favorite) shes always been a beer lover. I used to sit with her on Sundays out at my Grandmas house and split a 6 pack and a bag of sour cream chips with while watching football when I was only a early teenager. Lol.
I got into some trouble in my younger years, all my own fault, but while going through all that bullshit and not being able to deal with my folks, or probably more so my folks not being able to deal with me, my aunt Joann ALWAYS had my back no matter how out of line I got. She used to drive down and pick me up when my,parents where on the verge of killing me. For no other reason than she saw a kid that needed to feel like a equal. She always new and still knows how to make people feel,important and happy. she is gifted with that ability, as well as a great sense of humor (you pretty much have to have that with,me anyway lol). We almost lost her to cancer 5 years ago. It was,hard on me and im so thankful she came out of it. This world will definitely,lose some its luster when she someday passes.

On,another humorous side note, I have pissed her off a couple times, I actually got her to drop the F bomb one time lol. I was about 13 or so, when she said it, being the smart ass I am. I asked her what her boss would think of her "potty mouth" lol. I thought it was,pretty cleaver at the time, until she whipped my ass with a boat ore! Lol. Ahhh the memories. :thumbup:
 
Sounds like an awesome day and an amazing Aunt! reminds me of what my older sister used to do for me ;)
