Whew that was a stressful 7 minutes. They're setting me up now for an in store interview so hopefully good news on the horizon. With the baby shower and the interview out of the way, time to get drunk! Oh wait it's only 9:30AM...

What the heck, it's drunk time in London. ;)

Sticking in the restaurant business or looking elsewhere? Congrats on the interview and new baby!

For now stuck w/ the restaurant biz, but it'll be at a higher paying corporate restaurant. Right now I'm working at a small family owned operation who are great but can't afford to pay as much. Thank you!

I could NOT work in a corporate kitchen. Too many rules, like "Don't get drunk at work, Don't get drunk at 0930, Don't sexually harass the wait staff, Don't take the wait staff into the walk-in for 'Quiet time', Don't f(...)k the wait staff at work."

Hahaha, I have worked as a server in large corporate restaurants and I HATED it, but as a manager I have to say that it is better to be in those corporate settings because you have more backup, you can get paid more, and they offer benefits. The only catch is that you have to watch what you say/do a bit more, sexual harassment policies and favoritism issues are much more watched for.

Hey RB, shoot me a good recipe to break my new 15 in with. If you dont mind bro? I'm a newly singled father of 2 lil boys, and would love a decent but easy meal to fix for my boys.

I did non-corporate waiting for about 6 hours before I was DONE! But kitchen I have done now for almost 2 years. It helps that I also do FOH bar manager on sunday nights. Builds the repetoire with the wait staff, so they will join me in the walk in :D

Coming right up, ChameleonBear would be able to send you a couple great ones too, maybe even more so. Mrn8 too. Or Derek or Gunyawn for that matter. But I'm sending you one right now.

Except I don't use recipes... I never measure ANYTHING! I don't get measuring... I go by taste. I could do an ingredient list and then a step by step but it wouldn't be a recipe.

In all honesty, I'll take anything. I have custody of my lil guys now, and I'm petty useless as a cook lol. I gotta do better for em.

What kind of stuff do they like? I'm assuming chicken and beef and hot dogs kind of stuff?

Some pre-packaged stuff is NICE to keep on hand. When I know I'm gonna be having people staying with me for a couple days that have kids I normally go grab a big box of corn dogs. Minute and a half in a nuker, or 4 minutes in the fryer, and done.

For real food stuff, my go to is steak. I always keep steak on hand, and bacon, and asparagus, and green beans. I usually have either potatoes or mac and cheese too.

One of the things I DID learn though, is get one of those vaccuum sealer dealies, then buy your meat in BIG batches and butcher it yourself and vac-seal it. I do that now. I spend $100 for an entire beef tenderloin but I get 10-12 steaks out of it.

I think I sent you a recipe, BF said I needed to wait another 60 seconds to send another email so I think that means it sent and thought I tried to recent within the same few seconds. Something my GF uses a lot to plan out our weeks is this site:

I usually tweak the recipes just a bit but there are some great meal plans and most of the recipes are cheap and easy, plus they will help you grocery lists too. Check it out.

I'm a manager of a grocery store. Quantity and price isn't an issue, but the knowledge of what to do with the ingredients, well, thats a big one for me lol.
