Thanks Jerry!!

I just can't wait for it all to be finished!

I bet! It feels good to knock off some of those house wish-list items though. I can't wait until we can do our floors and kitchen downstairs, but I probably will be researching insulation, heating & cooling and new doors before then. I depleted my knife, gun & anything fun money for the year to fence in our backyard before the baby came The fenced in backyard was worth it since its been really nice with Indie and momma home with the little one here these past few weeks. That and playing fetch outside is so much more fun than playing fetch inside.

I love my bk20!

It's a black hole lol. Next project will be our backyard. We have some drainage issues that I need to address. Then along the side of our house it's a mud pit. I plan on building a boardwalk up the side and decking over the half the yard. After that, basement or bathrooms.....Lol

And back to TV reception...

Back in the days of analog signals, I had a 25 ft mast and could pick up 50+ channels, stretching from San Antonio to Dallas and from San Angelo to both Shreveport LA and Houston.

When signals shifted to the "it's better than analog" digital broadcasts, I could pick up 2, yes 2 stations. Installed a 50 ft mast and a "designed for digital" antenna and and am back up to 8 - 3 of the 6 Austin stations and 5 of 6 Temple/Waco stations. Except during heavy storms that analog signals would punch right through. Then it drops to as few as 0 stations if the storm is big enough.

Ooh, and just how am I supposed to track those big nasty storms when the weather guessers say "Stay tuned for breaking updates....."?

You don't.

apparently you'll have to install some additional, potentially not legal software, so...

And this would be a problem...why?

My solution is to not waste time watching TV. I waste plenty enough as it is looking at the internet. Plus, no one will ever be on their deathbed regretting that they didn't watch more TV - or that they missed the last season of....whatever.
That being said, I did install (and maintain - see pic) an antenna (because the rest of the fam wanted to watch "the Voice". Even in my decidedly non-OTA (60 miles from Boston, same from Portland, ME) broadcast area, I pick up ~50 channels....and there still ain't much on. Still, besides the equipment cost (~1 month's cable bill, before I cut the cord), it's free. And anything free is worth what you pay for it.

Me, repairing my antenna mast that folded over during our little weather event 2 weeks ago (with a blurry ZT0456):

I had an antenna on my roof in Denver for ten years and got about 40 channels for free in HD. If you get the signals then that is the way to go. I also did Slingtv for a while and conceptually it is great but service quality was continuously a problem so I canceled it. Now I live hours from the closest tv broadcast tower and even with the biggest antennas I would maybe get a PBS channel. TVfool.com is a great website for determining what signals you can get and what the strength should be. It gets very technical with graphs and everything. Really an impressive website. Earth is the big signal killer. If there is a mountain between you and the tower you won't get much. All I have now is Netflix and Amazon and don't even watch them but the wife and son do. Alone, Forged in Fire and American Ninja Warrior are the only shows I have much interest in and when it comes right down to it I can live without the last two. I have been asking my wife if we can have a TVless house for years now but she his hanging on pretty tight. Everyone picks on me for having a 37" TV cause it is so small. That was a big screen tv when I was little. I remember thinking a 32" was huge when I was little.

Yeah, Kodi seems like I'd have to use some shady add ons, and antennas don't work for more than a channel or two here. I am totally not going try out Popcorn Time on a library computer (to avoid any awkward "cease and desist" letters at home lol)

Crazy people:

That guy is nuts. I don't see how he can react so fast. I too, kept waiting for him to smack a tree.

You can tell thats when he was sweating the most too. You can hear the difference in his breathing when hes in the trees.

Good looking kid Jerry. Dog looks like it might be a little jealous.

Thanks, Dunk! The dog is smitten. Worries about her fussing, will come and get us if she's crying, comes in and checks on her as soon as she comes back inside from a walk or trip out and may God have mercy on you if you're a stranger that decides to approach the baby without specific authorization.

But yea... I can tell she wants some extra attention when I get home from work. Last night she crawled up on my lap and expected me to hold her like a baby. I explained to her that she's a 60# dog now and not a little puppy, but she sat there with her ears back and eyes as big as she could manage................. So, I obliged her.

Some of y'all don't visit General or Knife Laws often, but there's a thread in General by Critter (Doug Ritter, founder of Knife Rights) and one in Knife Laws by me about Texas HB 1935.

The bill is scheduled to have a committee public hearing on Monday, 03 April.

Passage of the bill would eliminate the term "illegal knife" from the Texas Penal Code, doing away with knife length limitations and the prohibitions on double edged blades and "bowie knives".

Please read one or both of the threads and contact the committee members, especially if you live or work in, or visit Texas.

Thanks.

The brain said, "Today (Saturday) would be good for a project." The body flipped it the bird. :peaceful:

That bike ride is like some of my recurring nightmares.
