So, I'm sitting here at work, I'm the only one here except for my boss who is working with a gaggle of new interpreters going through the program trying to get a job doing what I do. I don't mind it as we have a shortage of interpreters right now so any help would be good!
The problem with that, I have to leave my shoes on, and I have to be careful when walking around I can't have my phone out :(

How you all doing? This is actually my first day back since last week Thursday. On Sunday last week I ended up in the ER with 104* fever and my tonsils were pushing my uvula back against the back of my throat they were so swollen. Which is why I missed the gathering, I didn't figure anyone else wanted the strep.

Streptococcus sucks! I wish my wife and I could have made the gathering too. We don't anybody there, except for a handful of members(DJ, Todd and Murph), but would have loved to meet new folks! The food looked awesome and I'm sure there were interesting fireside chats!

Hope you are feeling better C-Bear. And yes, not that intersted in getting strep.

so, Gus - what is an appropriate bore diameter and depth for a proper pipe?

It doesn't take long after showing up to feel like family at Ethan's. If you don't know anyone when you show up, you will soon, and you'll get some good friends out of it! Worse comes to worse, meet some folks at Blade, then in the fall you will know folks and feel a li'l bit less like an outsider.

I was actually going to talk to you about having you blast a couple knives for me. I'll probably do that soon, I have to figure out which ones first LOL!

Definitely feeling better, fever is gone, sweats are gone, seizures are gone, tonsils have returned to a mostly normal size (for me at least!) and my uvula is free hanging again!

You gonna make it down to Atlanta this year with the douchebag?

Did as the directions of the rolls called for, 350° for 25 minutes, and this is the result:

I am shocked.....that anyone makes an oven mitt you can get yours into...

Seriously, though - pretty neat setup. Pretty sure I saw one of those ovens on closeout at WallyWorld the other day - might have to go see if it's still there now....

i definitely am sad that i missed the Big Gathering but will make lots of effort to goto my more local one. 1100 miles vs 100? :D

i was supposedly scheduled some months ago for oral surgery last Friday, but they changed the plan, and ended up having a cold. Busy period at work (major), and well, crazy time. Excuses, but still, I miss it.

That's my wife's hand in the mitt, I took the photo, haha.

So, I am trying to find somewhere within say 3 hours of St. Louis to hike and camp. I need to get out of the city for a while and I don't feel like car camping. I'd like to actually do some hiking. Does anyone have any ideas? I was looking at some of the state parks but they all seem to require staying on a pad, and I don't want to be stuck in a tent between two RV's pulling boats, if that makes sense.

Look up the nearest National Forest or state land near you. You can go pretty primitive on National Forest land!

Congratulations, Julio!
Cinnamon rolls look great, Dubz.
Disappointed I didn't get to see some folks at the Gathering, but on Sunday, I did at least get on rope.

These questions need answering!!

I had a dream last night that I was in my highschool woodshop class making some pretty exquisite pipes. When I woke up I was sad because there were none in my garage :(

Glad to see you back Cbear!

Totally forgot about that. I was looking at state parks but we have Mark Twain National Forest here in Missouri. Supposed to be kind of pretty. That might have to happen.

Glad to see you back Cbear!

Thank you sir, appreciate it. It's kind of weird being back and being blue, but sometimes that is life. I'd rather kick the money to KnifeRights instead of BladeForums.

Has anyone else used a Bear Butt Hammock? I got one the other week, and set it up (using the suspension from another hammock) and it held ~650 lbs no problem. My buddy and I both got into it. The hammock itself didn't stretch, however the suspension "friction welded" itself in a couple spots it looked like... OOOPS! However for $30 it was not that disappointing.

Hey Vik!

The pipe you made is pretty amazing. Smokes surprisingly well! The diameter is spot-on, but the depth of the chamber could be 1/2 inch shorter. Nothing wrong with how it is now, just need to pack it with more tobacco!

Get to the shop and start building!
