Blued the 16 last night, got pissed off because used it to cut chicken and left some chunks on the blade (so I had some large chicken hunk patina'd spots on it) so I decided just to blue the whole damn thing, I'm too OCD about stuff.

I am a FOH manager who actually occasionally still serves tables here and there when there are shifts that need covered (gotta love leaving with a pocket full of cash). It is family owned, total of 3 locations with another one opening up within next year in LA. There is known to be after hours drinking and all that, we are pretty informal in most interactions especially with eachother as well as guests as we are a Southern Roadhouse but it has more to do with the general perception of knives in my area. Not many folks hunt or are into self reliance or knives or guns, our gun laws are pretty strict and while our knife laws aren't as bad as NYC or much of Europe they are not letting us get away with a whole bunch. It's kind of the sissy, snottiness of my immediate area and clientele that plays a big part too.

I was weekend FOH Manager, and I worked as the Sous Chef in St. Louis. I still get with the exec chef and other sous chef and we do some competitions. It's just fun.
 
A few days back I ordered a homestead hatchet from a guy. He didnt have the one I wanted anymore so he offered me a trade for a russian hatchet and included a hatchet almost like the one I ordered. There arnt many people who do that kind of stuff left. Just wanted to share that with you guys.
 
Have any of you guys tried parkour? There's a class/ seminar nearby next week, wanted to try it out.

Imagine me doing THAT in a man-kini :D

Yes. Parks are good to work on your skills. That being said I almost broke my leg when I missed a jump.

Actually, you probably have and don't even realize it. Sous=Sauce... I was more the assistant than just sauce though.

If you watch Ong-Bak (first one) and B:13 those are two AWESOME parkour movies. Granted neither of them are American, or even English, but still awesome movies!!!!

Im fairly well practiced at it, once you get the basics down everywhere gets a lot more fun (also the woods become a personal challenge :D )
 
Well, it finally happened. My Jeep. A 1991 wrangler with a chevy 350. Fell victim to the ongoing downward spiral of my financal status. Sold it yesterday against my wishes, but hey sometimes you gotta do what you gotta do. Being off work sick sure didn't help. On top of my wifes earlier layoff and my work cutting half my pay. Sure had a lot fun in that damn thing. But the $$$ puts me depth free for the rest of the year. And gets me to the gathering. Damn the flies! :grumpy:

Sorry to hear that the Jeep is gone, but I'm glad you're debt free and making it to the gathering.

:'( shed a tear for the lost wrangler. sorry to hear that man, I don't think I could bear to part with my YJ (and I have nowhere near as much money in mine)

The 5.11 Tactical Duty Kilt

yar. got a chance to wear it while at a dance Thursday. has a bit of flounce to it while spinning, which is nice, and yar, quite good to move in.

like it! good value for $60! if they ever offer them again, esp in more colors (should've bought the tan, got the green and black), i will pounce on that deal.

UPDATE: THEY HAVE ABOUT 300 of them left, in different sizes and colors. the only way you can get one, is to call their toll-free number, and talk to customer service. as i just did :D :D :D so, missing color ahoy. moo hah hah.

if you've always wanted a Utilikilt, but didn't like the price, and want something a cross between the standard model, and a survival model (the COST!)... bob's your uncle.
