I don't recall who it was, but a couple years ago a football coach was asked on TV how he slept the night before his team played in the Super Bowl... he said "I slept like a baby! Woke up crying and wet my pants." :D
Hell, that is how I usually sleep. Thankfully, it isn't usually my pants that are wet, just sweaty. very very sweaty!

This form is not bad at all for a rookie (although I'm betting you've mounted a pig or two sometime in the past). Maybe loosen up the knees a tad and just roll with it. A couple shots of J.W. Dant and I think you'll be a force on the circuit.

@ Tradewater, Got the Wetterlings FFA in. Did yours come with really sloppy grinds and a gap where it looks like the head was folded ?
I cleaned mine up, and read that the gap/crack is no big deal, but was surprised considering their rep.

Guyon, have you run in those Minimus before?

No, but I've thought about going zero drop on trails for a while. Mainly looked at Five Fingers though.
Yesterday, I was in my local shop, found the Minumus shoes on sale, and liked how they felt.
If I'm not mistaken, they have a 4-mm drop, but same idea... they encourage a mid-strike or a ball-strike stride. Nice Vibram soles on them.
From everything I've read and been told, you have to ease into them. Baby steps.

I've seen several SA Wetterlings axes like that - which is a big part of why I didn't buy one 15 years ago when they were under $40, and still haven't.

@Guyon , Your gonna wanna do a third to half your normal distance till you get use to them. Running the right way blasts the crap out of your calves, but once your used to it it saves a TON of wear and tear on your Knees, Hips, and Spine.
You will find that you can run alot longer once your used to it, because the pavement isnt beating the crap out of you anymore.

@Vik, Yeah, I didnt have to do a whole lot to it, but I was surprised that at that price it would need so much finish clean up.

I got to handle mine before I bought it and it was fine. Of course I always do some touch up and regrinding anyway :D. I've had the large hunters axe for a long time and it's been my favorite trip axe. As far as the infamous gap goes, it's just a Wetterlings thing. I've never had a problem with them.

Exactly why I've been attracted to the idea. With all the running I've been doing lately, my knees have taken a beating.
Ran my first race, a 5K, last weekend, and the final hundred yards involved some pretty sharp left-knee pain. I've been resting and rehabbing for the most part.
Last week, I ran a couple of times without pain, but I'm icing and popping anti-inflammatories after I run. I also started doing a set of knee rehab exercises I had to learn a couple of years ago in PT.
Am hoping the trail running and stride change will give me some good cardio training at the same time I strengthen my knees without injury.

Its amazing what a good nights sleep can do for you. I was on rails today in the shop, got a lot accomplished. Unfortunately, my wife just came and got me and told me to hit the shower. Seems a distant cousin of mine that I probably see once or twice every few years is getting married. Guess where going. That SUCKS! I was definatly in a zone today. Oh well, I think Murph will be over tomorrow for a full day of work, so hopefully I can have another good day then.........Sure hope they have a open bar at the reception!

But then again, worldwood will probably beat you to 40,000 so I'll have to give it to him! LMAO! :D

Spent most of today hanging out in bed. Not that anything is particularly wrong just been a rough couple weeks at work and bed sounded good. I've been stressing out a LOT about bills and this week I did my timesheets I should have not only enough to catch up on my bills but also have a little bit of a buffer. Just a little bit but still it's a good thing! I was thinking Sunday shall be the epicness but it turns out Monday will be. Still it will be nice.

I still need to get down to the parent's house. They have been on a cruise for the last 10 days and I surprised them. Painted the bathroom and grandma's old bedroom. I also am rearranging the main living areas. They don't know so it is all a surprise. They were planning on painting the bathroom them selves but I figured I'd knock it out for them. Nice little surprise.

You people who run when no one's chasing you are just plain weird. I like swimming and biking, but I have always absolutely despised running. I'm getting a stitch in my side just thinking about it. :grumpy:

That's my secret. I pretend Moose is after me.
