You were in the Army didnt you say? What branch?

Signal. Retired as a Major. Didn't see eye-to-eye with my Brigade Commander when I was a battalion ops officer. I can sleep at night with a clear conscience though. Best job I ever had was as a 1st Lieutenant...signal officer for a mech infantry battalion in Germany back in '87-'88, when the Wall was still up and we knew who the enemy was.

This is about as crazy drinking I do, this year I'm tipping the bottle a little deeper in my glass and chug it down!!

Good stuff!! We used to serve that a lot at holiday meals when the kids were little.

Cool most of the Mech Infantry was in Berlin wasnt it?

Cool pics, Gus. Thanks. I took my bag on a recent trip to Alabama. It handled my essentials, including two pistols, like a boss.

Completely agree G. The bag is incredibly practical. I only wish I had even a single pistol to carry in it - lol!

oh, yeah - Guyon: Foliage Green isn't. Coyote all the way.
(and yes, the coyotes around here are pretty much "Coyote Tan and/or Coyote Brown - just like the Becker field bag)

No the Becker bag is tan not the godaweful turd color they call coyote

Watched Lawless again. What a good, bad ass, effing movie. My son loved it.

Is it just me or does anyone else think of Soylent Green (is people) every time they read/hear Foliage Green. BTW, am I showing my age with this reference?

Pretty much all over Germany. The Berlin Brigade was in Berlin, but they were light or motorized infantry if I remember correctly. Then two Armored Cav Regiments (11th ACR in the north, 2nd [I think] ACR in the south). Then 4 heavy divisions (either mech or armored) behind the Cav. Two Corps Headquarters (V and VII) each had two of the divisions and one of the ACRs along with all the other ash and trash. I was in 3rd Armored Division, about an hour north of Frankfurt or so. As I understood it, the plan was for 11th ACR to slow down the Commies like a speed bump, then we were gonna hopefully live long enough to die a glorious death just as reinforcements from CONUS arrived. At least that was my assessment of things. But what would I know...I was just a Signal weenie... But, big surprise, the Soviet empire managed to crumble all on it's own.

This is probably more a history lesson than anyone wants on New Year's Eve!

It's just you... But now I'm worried it may be me as well since you've planted it in my brain...

Great movie though. I can't remember if I have it on DVD. I know I have the original B&W version of the Blob...and maybe The Andromeda Strain.

We brought back a ton of this jerky. Originally stumbled on it ages ago when we were climbing in the Red River Gorge just outside of Lexington. Perhaps not the best branding/logo, but really good stuff.

since a re-read of "Make Room! Make Room" is my plan for tomorrow, if you are, you're not the only one...

LOL! Sorry about that, but I do like your taste in early sci-fi films!
