Thanks, Todd! It's Guayacan/Lignum Vitae.
It sure is. Not a lick of white meat on the bird, which is great. Though the legs were still much moister ("moister"?) than the breast.
This guy. ~0.115" 1095, which after a thanksgiving ham and christmas turkey now has a nice patina going (pre-meat shot):
Naw, Ray, I don't take pictures when Murph gooses me. That's strictly an offline activity.

I'm practicing my Latin! http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lignum_vitae
It's seldom very figured, but it has a wonderful feel. Despite it's burly properties, it's not too bad to work at all.

And the intelligence to know generally what to look for as well as the ability to deconstruct and apply said info in the physical realm, then to disassemble and surmise you have the correct information to get the correct part and reassemble......this is sense that is NOT common to 80% of the population. To fix an actual piece of technology? Don't sell yourself short, my friend. It took a LOT more than just a "regular screwdriver".Woke up this morning to discover that our furnace had broken, and the house was freezing cold. Not really what we needed for our holiday season... However, I googled "furnace not blowing hot air," and discovered that a broken hot surface ignition element is a very common cause for such things. Armed with a picture of said HSI element, I was able to find the part in my furnace, and establish that, indeed, it was broken. Took a trip out to Appliance Factory Outlet, picked up the part, which they randomly gave me for 20% off, and 40 dollars later, got my furnace up and running again. All it took was a regular screwdriver. Thank goodness for the Internet!
I appreciate your discretion.

Took the pup to my folks house last night for our family Christmas. Here's a pic of my kids (left and right) my niece in the middle holding the dog. They all ran and played all evening. Came home and all of them pup included slept all through the night.
