Snark it, Snark it Good

I just checked out those HB forge hawks. Some nice options there. I'm waiting for the new CRKT hawks, they have a polled and a spiked version coming out soon, they're about $45.

I saw a cool video from C_tanner (prepared mind 101 on YT) where he took a Cold Steel rifleman's hawk and put it on their warhammer handle (33") and it looked like a very nice setup. Turns out the warhammer handle is made the same as their hawk handles just longer. I can't find replacement warhammer handles though and I'm not buying a whole warhammer just for the project.

Smooth edit... Now no one will think you were talking about the scent of "Daizee and Derek's two beckerheads one yogurt." :barf:

No grass to mow here until the rest of the snow melts. Leaves me time to start grinding my Machax today....maybe have it ready for this evening's firepit libations. Still pretty soggy in the yard, though.

In my experience, the huge benefit of dogs is that they deter incidents. A criminal has no way of knowing how a dog will react, other than most of them react loudly. That, in it self, seems to discourage your average casual criminal, and they go looking for a quieter area for their shenanigans.

The other thing is that, in my experience at least, dogs are very sensitive to the owners' emotions. If the owners are friendly towards you, so are the dogs. If the owner is nervous or scared, then the dogs will be also. Two of our dogs will either lick a visitor to death or try to crawl in their lap from some ear scratching, including the 70+ pound boxer/pit mix. The German Shepherd mix is pretty relaxed most of the time (kinda too cool for school attitude), and is the only one we have inside when customers come over to pick up guns. There is no doubt he is the alpha male and right behind me and my wife in the "pack leadership." He usually finds a spot where he can observe from a short distance when strangers are in the house, so I have no doubt that the shepherd instinct would kick in if the "pack" were threatened.

probably one of the reasons why cops shoot so many dogs. "just in case". which sucks.

our german shepherd would run away. smart dog. a few times a cop came onto the property and would ask us to "put our police dog away". then he'd also comment on the daisy bb gun "why do you have a rifle sitting out?". not a very smart cop. or effective. we kept telling him who the perp was, name and address, but it was always "we'll find him eventually". oh right, the police dog was a 1/2 size "runt" we got. great dog til the end. afraid of water too :D

i like that Ayoob video. very no nonsense.

get an alarm system. even if it's just door shriekers you buy at harbor freight.

pretty much every tv show and movie plot where "various people" with lock picks seem to move in and out of people's home would be defeated.

in a very "funny" episode of Dexter, our main man killer is sneaking around some guy's house, looking to set him up, eh? what Dex doesn't know is every inch of the house is wired. the bad guy is in the sub-sub-basement is alerted and watching his every move. lol.
