Thats cool CB.

I don't know if I've mentioned this before, but as one of my other hobbies I have an aquarium in my living room. I just went to add some water to the tank and clean it a little and my heater quit working........its supposed to be around 78-80 degrees and is closer to 68 right now. Poor little buggers must me freezing their fins off. I always meant to put a second heater it there, but just never got to it. I'm slowly trying to warm it back up and am crossing my fingers that I don't lose any fish. Right now the youngest fish I have is around 4.5 years old and my oldest must be getting close to 6, so it would suck to lose them. They are all still alive right now, but chances are pretty good that I'm going to lose some.

Yesterday was my daughter's 2nd bday, damn time is soaring by.

It really does, my daughter is 3 and it feels like she was just born yesterday, can't believe it's been three years. Did you guys have a party? At that age throwing them a party is really more of an excuse for a bunch of adults with kids to go to your house and drink wine while their toddlers tear up your living room.

Did a little work on the Husky today. Sanded and finished the handle, cleaned up the grind and sharpened it. I hot waxed the cover and added a keeper too. I use a 50/50 mix of BLO and mineral spirits on the handle which soaks in well and leaves a great feeling satin finish. Didn't get to chop anything today because of weather but made some feathers and did some light cuts in the shop. Daizee is right, it's softer than a Wetterlings and seems about the same as a Gransfors. Takes a very nice edge.

That looks awesome tw.

Damn! And I thought my 65L pack was big!
Kelty has a 110 as well. Then, there's always the Flextrek Augmenteon 37,000,000,000,000:

I hear good things about Kelt's civilian line Dubz. If I ever get rid of some other packs maybe I'll try one.

I finally posted up my cold weather challenge. Told y'all I was a procrastinator! Yesterday was my daughter's 2nd bday, damn time is soaring by.
My Kelty MAP is certainly well made. We're headed to St. Louis next week, to REI, gonna try some packs on, make sure it's a good fit. Next thing you know Murph, she'll be 25. BTW, yooz a sexy mo fo in red. ;)

I don't care how comfortable it is, unless you are going on an arctic expedition, 95 liter bags are insane. I learned this the hard way when I purchased my first internal frame hiking pack which ended up being 85 liters overall. It was too big. (That's what she said.)

Also speaking of hawks got my CS trailhawk in the mail today. Love this little thing so far. Also I put my new fave of cheap folders, the Cryo that I've been EDCing in the shot and a BK7 because...well, I am a beckerhead first!

sorry for the blurry pic...I'll get some good outdoor in action shots soon....

Did you take the little screw off? You don't really need it. My trail hawk is my favorite little axe

i got a trailhawk a week or two ago and i still cant figure out why that dang little screw is in there in the first place. I think someone jokingly said it was put in my the CS legal team hahaha!

I took the bit off, filed out the the inside of the eye to smooth the edges, sandpapered the haft end where the bit snugs up to remove the nasty little cuts the head put on them and then put it too work. Nice little hawk, serious bang for the buck! I'm planning on sanding down the haft and and refinishing it, maybe stripping the bit too, just not enough hours in a day.

Last night was a small get together, this Saturday will be a bigger family thing. Yeah, I agree about it being more for the adults. This is the product of my mom and my woman making decisions. All I know is, the older she gets, the closer I am to having to give her my Jeep.:(

Thanks Dubz! Yeah, she's already smarter than me and claimed most of my knives.

It is. I'm not going to get that big of a bag. I'm wanting a Gregory Baltoro 65, or 75, or an Osprey Aether. Gonna try them on, and if I don't like the way they fit, I'll go from there.

I really like Osprey packs. I think when I wear out this Kelty Lakota, I'll "upgrade" to an Osprey. I got to carry an Atmos on a 2-day hike last year and it really did carry better than my Kelty. I'm not disappointed with the Kelty at all, but there is a quality difference. My Lakota is a 65 and if I strap a couple of items on the outside, it's good for 3 days worth of gear, even with excess.

Just got an e-mail confirming that I'm selected to go to Geneva, Switzerland for 5 days, on a studytrip. We'll be visiting several UN organs as well as the main seat of the International Red Cross, and many others. In short: places people aren't able to visit just like that. Psyched!

Congrats shark! Sounds like it'll be an interesting trip.

Tell the UN to pound sand while you're there. ;)

Thanks, I'm sure it'll be mad interesting. We've got some spare time in the evening/at night so there's plenty time to, uhm, relax :D

The divisions we'll be visiting are mostly humanitarian oriented, so no visits to the security council (which is in USA, by the way). Else I'd tell 'em for sure, lol.

Dubz, I have a Jack Wolfskin trailhead II and it has a big sturdy suspension system. Not a featherweight, but you can carry anything in it and not feel overloaded. Great packs but I don't know if you can get them in the US anymore.

Wow, never even heard of that one.

Dubz, if you'd like to meet up to get food, there are several really good places around. I'd love to actually get to meet ya! I live 10 miles from REI (almost on the dot.)

I just noticed that Psy added me as a link on his website........Also noticed he gave me the wrong name...:grumpy:....Whadda A$$HOLE!!!!!!!

Dubz, have you thought about supplementing your map3500 with a Ribz front pack so you dont have to go bigger and have quick access to the gear you need most?

I got my giant backpack when I was a hiking guide in UT and had to carry a whole slew of additional gear for the job (a sat phone, walkie talkie, solar chargers, huge first aid kit, etc) and also it's given me the ability to carry up to 2 weeks of food so I could travel and stay in some pretty off the beaten path areas.

Now I just use the extra space for lots of knives and comfort items that I really don't need but are nice to have. I do go ultralight sometimes and use an ARC'TERYX 3200ci for that.
