Hells yes, let the weekend begin. Split firewood, shaved a marshmallow stick, and dug some holes for critter traps with my BK9. I'm a fan now.

It is the weekend, and I hereby give the bladeforums browser window the center of the main screen.
My back is beat from sanding. geez, I need to improve my machinery and lower my standards. Meet somewhere in the middle...

Im jealous BRL! I have cabin fever bad. All the water here is still completely frozen.

Just hit my left thumb nail with a hammer while trying to pound out the kingpin of one of my new longboard trucks... anyone else here involved with longboarding? Ow ow ow the pain :(

yes, those are surf longboards... but there are also long skateboards that are called longboards!

Cool video. Part of longboard culture appears to involve an "idiot gene" that deters practitioners from wearing helmets. :p

Longboarding looks like it would kill you. I better stick to hiking.
Seriously, I've threatened to buy a long board since my son got a skateboard.
He just rolls his eyes. :D

Statistics show that most police confrontations that involve guns show that 8 shots is what's used. At that point, either the bad guy is down or has taken off, because they're typically allergic to high-speed lead. I still carry 20 rounds on me, but don't feel real bad about a pocket pistol with one spare mag.

I know, most hard-core self defense guys will say you will never know when / how the need to defend will happen and you should have 30 rounds of 45acp and a backup gun. ;)
The real hardcore ones will also tell you training is a good thing, not how to shoot mind you, but how to fight with a weapon.

longboarding like cruising the boardwalk, or longboarding like bombing the steepest hill you can find and riding thru the speed wobbles screaming in triumph when you make it to the bottom alive?

skateboarding is the devil, but at least on a short board you can powerslide and controll your speed, bombing hills on a longboard requires a special kind of stupid, and im now too fat and old to be turning myself ito a side of crispy bacon every weekend.

i sure do miss it though... :D replaced skateboading with full throttle lanespliting

what board you got?

i do long and medium skate boarding. never could figure out how to ride those death decks :>

i find the better lower trucks on these slalom boards to be amazingly stable - a lot of snowboarding.

Randall trucks are pretty damn nice. almost no speed wobbles, ever. i have medium and wides. big juicy tires.

my nicest board is a G&S model, with a lot of camber, and these really strange trucks named xSkate. they use a torsion bushing.

i can't do it, but a lot of long boarders CAN power slide just fine. just a skill to learn.

If my kids knew I was looking at ANY version of a skateboard, all heck would break loose.

On most days, I'm lucky to keep one foot in front of the other.:)

i could only slide on a longboard if i was wearing gloves (hands down), but truck and wheel tech has come a long way since i used to do it with indy 215's and oj's.
my curent setup is a Duane Peters prototype PoorHouse board from around 93 with indy 169's and old spitfire wheels
i built and lived under my friends ramp in the the first scene of this vid for about a year.... good times... suburban outdoors minamalist living....
