Well, that is awesome. Jeremy, I hope you're bringing that beast to the Northeast Gathering this year....mmmm....beast of the east. Congratulations! I figgered one of the 'Heads would end up with it - although I would've put even money on zzyzz....

I considered it and put in an early bid, knowing it would go way up. I put a mental note on how much I will pay and then if it goes beyond that, I don't go chasing rainbows. That said, it's easier to pass on something when you already have 1 (or 2) than it is when you are still chasing your first one.

Right now there are only 4 knives that I'm stalking, all Westerns. Not saying that I wouldn't jump on others if they pop up, but....

I have played around with it some nothing to brag about but they worked.

This was either my first or second one, I have only done 3 I think.

Not too shabby. Looks like it could use a little more boning though. The back of a sharpie works very well for me. I'd like to see one with your dye job.

How old is your 220?

It's from '92, with the spur hammer. I also had a '95 with the round hammer and I only had to swap the main spring, strut, and spring seat. This one I need a new hammer, hammer stop, hammer reset spring, and maybe a sear but the SRT kit comes with a sear.

Hoss, how easy would it be to make a set of scales yourself? I was thinking about getting a Sig 238 at some point and making my own grips for it.

I have absolutely no resources to make them. On these sigs the main spring assembly is outside the frame so the grips have to wrap around the back to cover the main spring. Even if I could make scales, I couldn't make them as thin and the Slim grips. The slim grips fit my hand very nicely so that's why I'm doing all this. Plus I already bought half the parts anyway and the ones that need replacing are already out of the gun.

Speaking of grips, got the Magpul MOE 1911 grips last week. They're nice.

Great. Now I want a pet buffalo.

Just finished gluing up some bank holders for the catfish rigs I'm building.

Not snowing at all here. Checked the radar, and we are right in the thick of it, too.

ac700wildcat, I don't have any experience with carrying it, but my Glock 17 is really fun to shoot.

Not snowing here for once!!! We really needed a break and I'm glad we are getting it.

I'm not looking to carry whatever I get. I've pretty much got my bases covered there. I'm just really wanting something to have fun shooting and to have in my vehicle for some impromptu target practice or if there was some sort of emergency.

I'm looking at getting a new handgun soon. I'm kinda leaning towards a Glock beings I don't have one, or possibly and m&p 45.

Can't go wrong with Glock or M&P

Lol. Steer me in another direction Daizee. I'm thinking 9mm or 45. I have 2 1911's already and my next will be a custom, but I don't want to spend that kind of money now. I have the CZ SP01 and a Kahr in 9mm. I carry the Kahr and plink with the CZ. I'm looking for another plinker and may want to lock it up in a gun vault in my vehicle. Around $600 is my max.

Aside from Glock and M&P, CZ is good. Not sure how Sig is doing these days. I know a few years ago they let their quality take a dive and I haven't looked into if they recovered yet or not. The older sig pistols that say "Made in W. Germany" on the slide under the model number are great. The Ruger P-series guns, with the exception of the P345, and just amazing and stupid tough. I'm on the hunt for a P97dc (.45acp). When I was 21 I bought a P95dc and that thing is still going strong. The FN handguns seem to be pretty good and there's H&K if you can afford one.

I have a gen 3 G17 and I have carried it. The heel of the grip prints a little bit but you can't tell it's a gun. Still, think I'll get a G19 so I don't even have that. The 26 is a great little gun, I really don't need anything smaller.

I'm thinking along the same lines lately. I went to the local range and rented for an hour. I tried out the XD, XDm, Glock 19, and M&P all in 9mm. The XDm and Glock held the best groupings for me. The M&P didn't feel right and I felt had the worst barrel of them all for accuracy. Now, of course, this is all in my hands and not yours... I am leaning heavily toward a 4.5" XDm. Since I carry an XDS, anyway, the transition between the two is pretty comfortable.

snow day! supposed to get 7-13" overall by morning, plus drifts -- here's hoping I get a second day off tomorrow so i can go scrape some driveways.

I could use a little more boning, myself...although I'm not sure how a sharpie is used for that.

Well... Glocks are excellent *weapons*, but the ergos are very far from your other hardware. One of the advantages of a poly pistol is the light weight, but if you won't be packing it that doesn't matter.

I do like the Sig P220 in-hand, tho I've only shot the P225. If you like your Kahr, my fav of that lineup by FAR was the T40. Dunno if they ever made a T9, but that would have been my pick from that litter. Of course there's always revolvers, which are great at sitting around idle. How about a stainless Blackhawk in .45Colt/.45ACP? :D Pretty much fun as hell, and you can load it for anything from bullseye to bear. Unless you've got good reason to worry about protracted gunfights (egad, change careers!), it's pretty much a do-everything truck gun. But didn't you have a .357 or something?

Rough day here today, been working out at my Buddies shop 2 to 3 nights a week helping him out. Didnt get in in last night till a little after midnight. Sore as hell, I guess climbing under a Peterbilt semi about 2 dozen times lastnight is quite a workout. Get to the crappy day job only to be bombarded with there usual moronic logic. Get this, they hired a guy from Michigan to come in today to run a repeatability test on my CMM machine that I run. His fee was just over $3500. for 6 hrs. of work, heres the clincher, when he got here he told my boss (the same one that I went to war with over my re embirsment for my Metrology class a couple of months ago) that he couldnt do it because he wasnt told what the software was and he knew nothing of this equipment. So, they sent him on his way and still had to pay him his $3500. fee because of a contract that my company has with his. Lol, So, my genious boss looks at me and says "well, you think you can figure it out?"
I told him as polietly as possible that he was freekin crazy if he thought I was going to touch for the peanuts he pays me compared to the wage the other guy just ripped him off for considering this was HIS job to be doing in the first place but just wasnt smart enough to do it. Well, immediately this provoked a strongly worded exchange to which I finally responded again, " Yeah Yeah Blah Blah, just be sure to write this down for my next employee evaluation............Man i hate this place with a passion.

that's where you were supposed to point out that having the usual operator run the repeatability test would invalidate the test.

I kinda figured that I couldn't go wrong with either. I know the M&P works for me, but not sure about the Block. I'll have to find one shoot before I decide. I was just looking around and found that Sig actually makes a double stack 45 now, the p227. It looks decent and you get 10+1 rounds. $900ish for one though and I don't think I want to spend that much.

I wish we had somewhere with rentals around here. I had an M&P for as while and really liked it, but wanted to get away from the 40. I borrowed an XD 45 a while back and it didn't excite me too much.

Heheheh.

I don't love the Kahr, but it carries nice and I shoot it really well. I have model 10 38 special and à 357 mag Blackhawk. I suppose I could make one of them a truck gun, but then I don't have a good reason to buy something new!! I really hope I don't end up in any gun fights!! As far as it being a truck gun, it would likely only ever be called on for target practice or to dispatch a deer.

Seriously, ac700wildcat. Have you tried a PPQ yet? It's a very fun gun to shoot (everyone from Nutnfancy to hickok45 has tried and loved it), and will run you under 600. If you get a chance to handle one and feel the trigger, check it out. I'd think that a Glock or M&P etc would be a step down after a CZ. Best factory trigger for a polymer pistol on the market, and very comfortable in grip.

If I were wanting a plinker though, I might see if I could source a Kel-tec PMR-30 though. 30 rounds of 22 WMR per mag, nice big fireball and loud boom when you shoot, negligible recoil... Downside is that it feels like a toy.

It gets better, the guy that was suppossed to do the work brought with him a master trihedronal gauge that cost 10's of thousands of $$$$$$. Needless to say, he took it with him when he left. Bossman, who is the engineer over me as well mind you, wanted to know if that was necessary and if I couldnt figure out how to do it myself without one. "you gotta be kidding me.... a quality engineer!"

Holy shit Todd. Sounds like a real gong show...

I admit Im not the smartest guy in the world, but these fresh out of college engineers (at least here) couldn't even spell gong show Gus. I cant imagine these guys getting anything better than drool on there S.A.T.
