i hear tell there's a recall on certain lots of winchester 333 bulk boxes.

if you buy it, check it out.

also: Thunderbolts. aka Blunderbolts. a worst buy. avoid.

well, unless you have a high point or something :D

Neighbor emailed me the other day and said some of them were double charged. Too much big boom = bad.

This is why I have a .17HMR :D

can you hunt those out of season? well. do you even have a season there? we sure do. no poaching! darn, they're all over my yard.

sweet shirt too :D

OK, flickr keeps failing to upload these 2 pics, specifically. Maybe it's afraid. This one is for all y'all's inner mall ninja. I don't know why, but I've been looking at this particular blade for more than a year, before I found the BK9 and this community. I'll most likely never use it for it's intended purpose, but at least I know I could if I had to.....that is of course if I had the sack to carry it around. 'Course if I did, it'd be like a challenge to every punk spoiling for a fight, I think. But I bought it anyway, even if I decide to pass it on:

...or a fourth leg ;)...

when y'all get bored of that, just leave it under a log near manchester, and tell me the GPS coords and i'll go get it :>

so, apparently making .22LR is more "art" than the "science" of reloading center fires... apparently the fact they get so many right, is a matter of a continuous fine tuning

and when they stopped making .22LR all together to make more 223/556, restarting the lines "hurt them"...

the old federal brown box 550 is the stuff to buy, if you can find it. the new blue box has "growing pains" as well, could be a year or more before they get "good" again

9mm is quite plentiful now. .45 is coming along. .40 is still scare. .44 magnum and special is pretty good

there's even a second or third maker? now of 5.7x28 !!! and the prices while not good, are better then last year; the russian's (third) are supposed to have $15 boxes soon

shame the pistols went up $100 per. oh well. they also seem better made now. extended mag == 30 rounds of centerfire goodness. proven design. scary aftermarket relods too.

And sometimes you build the shed you can...yah I know it's not keeping the snow off - mostly 'cause of all the blowing around it was doing yesterday. Also, because that was the space I had to work with, so I built what I could. Maybe a longer roof come warmer weather. I like that woodpile too, b. I don't burn wood other than in the firepit, so that would be complete overkill here at casa de North Mill Pond. If only the town of Rye would pull their collective heads out of their dark places, I might could burn some more of that at the beach. They used to let anyone start a "cooking fire" at the beach if you went to the fire station and got a permit (copy of your driver's license) and told you where you were gonna make it. Some people were not attending to their fires, so the town decided to not let any out of towners get permits...huh? Hello, it's not the people who are going to the trouble of getting permits and giving you their location and driver's licenses that are causing the problem; if they were, you'd know where to find them, boneheads! Now I have to call in favors from friends and masquerade as someone else for the evening if we want to have a fire at the beach, which sucks, because all of us lurve having fires at the beach and would actually pay for permits to do so. Still won't make those idiots listen to logic.....rant over.

That inside pocket for the lid is pretty nifty Biscuit. I like that a lot.

Well being home with too much time to spend surfing the exchange has put a little dent in my personal economy, unless you count knife value as liquid assets. This will have to be my last purchase for a while ("while" meaning whatever you might think it means ;)) but I just received the non-Becker in the mail today. It is astonishing blade to hold and cut with, but then again, it cost half again as much as the 15 with micarta (came a few days ago). Both of them were purchased used off the Exchange:

I'm going to make some Kydex for it, and was thinking of doing a little accent with the lavender faux ostrich skin in the background. Sam Adams makes a lot of kickass beers, and this one is especially ass-kicking; the flavor is even better when the Ka-Barley is used as an access device.

With the new (to me) BK-15:

What's surprising (to me, at least) is how thin the edge feels in use given how thick this blade is; there's almost no secondary bevel on the fully convexed grind:

I'm pretty happy with both of them. Hopefully these two will keep me busy and off the Exchange for a bit.....although I'm gonna need some more Kydex...and a rivet setter...and some other stuff....

That's purty.

Speaking of cinch bags, here's one my wife just made me for the Pathfinder Canteen set. Has a nice little inner pocket for the lids.

Trade hasn't even gone orange yet and you're already to unseat him.

Hardly. It's not easy to get my wife to tear herself away from purses and children's clothes.

Todd, that is awesome news. Today was one of those days that while nothing was wrong just was kind of down so that cheers me up immensely!

By the by, I don't live at the address you've sent to previously. When you're ready to send just let me know I'll send you my new address.

Last time I got thunderbolts (I think it was thunderbolts) I had several duds. Usually if I loaded them so the firing pin hit in a different spot they'd work. Sometimes it took three tries. Bleh.

Where I am .40 is plentiful, .45 is usually available and 9mm is hit-or-miss. That's how it was last time this happened too.

Both of those knives look great, Granite.
Thank you. Needless to say, I'm pretty pumped.
Did you see my long winded answer to your question about that little woodshed? Post #809. If you email me I can dig up some more pics (I think) and give you a few more details. Basically it's an amalgam of a few different designs I found on the web, twisted and compacted to fit the space I had.

I've gotten a bunch of that recently. I'll have to check it out. I'd only heard of the Winchester M-22 being recalled.

I've been thrilled to get some 22lr stocked again. My little 8yo sharpshooter is actually going to get decent range time again this summer. Last year I gave him 50 rounds a visit. That goes fast, even in a single shot rifle.
