Snark Will Tear Us Apart

So I'm easing out of the Christmas day with a glass of Crown Royal on the rocks, layed back in my bedroom watching True Grit, the original John Wayne version shot in 1969. I'm convinced this version is better than the Jeff Bridges remake.

Definitely. Personally, I thought the remake sucked.

I think I like the JW version more, but I really did enjoy the Bridges version.

Stinkin' monkeys... I hate monkeys.

PS

Hope everyone had a Merry Christmas!

Doc

Nature's Miracle would make the monkey smell great. Then you can be best friends :p

Every time i look at that picture i see new stuff in it. Anyone found the key??

Merry Xmas!

Crossing the southern border into the Peoples Republic is worse than NY state...I practically have to turn the truck upside down and shake it when I do a show in Ma. (Which in very rarely-)
I really enjoy the new NH lack of knife laws, though. Vt. doesn't go out of their way to enforce knife laws unless you're being an idiot, but they are still on the books.

Christmas night was Sierra Nevada Celebration, 32kg kettlebell presses and the first half of Boondock Saints 2(before the battery bank crapped out...one day of sun in 14 doesn't help the panels much...)

Left the Celebration out in the outdoor fridge (aka the garage), and had a few Dirty Bastards from Founder's last night. Of course, at 8.9% ABV it only takes a couple. Tasty. Was going to get my brother to share some of his Christmas gift - a 6 pack of 22oz Micros from around the Granite State - but he was just coming off the flu so we'll wait 'til later. Got him a 603 Brewery Fireside Smoked Porter which I'm looking forward to him sharing with me ;).

I tracked down that thread with the skid mod. The guy used 25 mm electrical conduit (pvc). He drilled the foot slots a few mm narrower than the actual distance between the legs. You have to slightly flex the legs to fit them in the skid. This creates enough tension to keep the skids from dropping off when you move the chair. He also said that the skids can fit in the chair bag. Very cool.

Do the pipes in two different sizes and you will be bale to nest one in the other. It wont affect their ability to stay on because you still drill the holes the same way, but it will save on storage space, and if you put the larger one on the back legs, well thats where most of the weight sits anyway.

Get up everybody, go play with your new sharp things!

Don't have any new sharp stuff, however just got the car loaded up and about to hit the road. On my way to the cabin and the only sharp stuff there will be my blades and my wit... I should probably bring more knives!

The John Wayne version of True Grit was leaps and bounds better than the remake. Also McClintock was one of my favorites growing up. And Rooster Cogburn!

I didn't get any new sharp things... but I played with my old ones :D

Just finished watching 'Alice in Wonderland' with the kids. Man that would be one crazy trip...

debating if I feel like a turkey dinner at the in-laws, or an evening home without the family. All keeping in mind I have to wake up at 4AM for work tomorrow.

JT you got a nice forge!

Nah, that was just a pic I found on the web.

Re: "True Grit"... I've seen both versions more times than I can count. It's interesting to me that the same story can be made into two completely different movies... the 2010 version is really dark and more of a "film", and the 1969 version is basically a slap-stick cartoon. If you want to see John Wayne being hilarious, it's hard to top "McCLintock!" - that movie is just plain fun from start to finish.

In general I much prefer the 2010 version, but Bridges completely fouled-up the most famous line in the whole story "Fill your hands, you sonofabitch!" :grumpy: Read the book if you get a chance.

Personally, I think Wayne's best work overall was "The Shootist".

My opinion exactly. I have yet to see the shootist, but out of the many movies I have seen I fell the searchers is one of his best.
And you're right the book Is great

woke up with no fever, got my growler -- still don't have to go to the in-laws' tomorrow.
Life is good!

 Sounds like a whole lot of win there!!

I got a fever earlier that got up to 102.2..... Its back to 99.7 now.

If they keep coming and going ill eventually break down and take some pills. Really dont want to though.

Glad to hear you're feeling a bit better, Vik and WW

In other news, I'm never quite sure whether or not to be offended when someone gives me shower gel and body spray for Christmas  :p

the only pills I took this week were 12 hour sudafed and 12 hour extra-strength mucinex. I also did a sinus wash with chamomile tea and sea salt each morning (not today) to prevent getting a secondary sinus infection.

Hope everyone had a good Christmas!

My son (20 in January) and daughter (23) along with her boyfriend were here for dinner last night and breakfast this morning. My daughter was dog sitting, so we had a 4th dog in the house... Plus my wife's oldest daughter, son-in-law, and two granddaughters are visiting, so we have a houseful. Prime rib, twice-baked potatoes, roasted brussels sprouts with bacon and walnut, and glazed carrots last night...biscuits with sausage gravy and mini maple orange french toast casseroles with bacon for breakfast. Beer and sparkling grape juice last night, mimosas and coffee this morning.

Got some t-shirts...one says "That's too much bacon.
- Said no one ever."

Also got a Ken Onion Work Sharp. Put a wicked good edge on the BK15 and BK16 for the next pig hunting adventure. Also touched up my son's Kershaw Leek. Me likey!

Glad you're feeling better bud!

I opted out of going to my in-laws tonight. They were having a big turkey dinner and I do want to go, but the low grade fever just kicked in again, and my head feels 10x its normal size, and I swear 'Kazoo' from the 'Jetsons' is following me around smacking me in the head with a rubber mallet every so often (no, I'm not on any drugs yet).

The quiet of the house with nobody around has increased my mood slightly. I would have another nap... but I have to go to bed in 4-5 hours...

Nice score on the growler and the 16 WW!

Thanks,

One way to handle that would be to look them right in the eye, open the body wash and start drinking it... Then look confused and say, "What the hell is this for?"

Does sudafed reduce fevers?

Id rather take 1 pill than 3 for 3 different things.

Nice score on the growler and the 16 WW!

Thanks!

Now my wife says i should of got 2 of them for camping. One for my dark liquor drinks and one for her margaritas/sex on the beach/any other fruity colorful drinks..... I was like DAYUM woman, you think we are going to drink a gallon of liquor over a weekend,..... she says, "we might" :D

 sounds like you got yourself a good one :D I happen to agree with her.

Well my quiet afternoon was short lived. I just got a call saying my parents are over at my in-laws for that turkey dinner, and regardless of how I feel; I need to go haha :thumbdn:

Time to load up on cold meds and put on a smile.
