I wonder if he did just that and that's why we don't see him around these lowly parts much anymore.
 
i hope Wood and his family are ok. That hurricane has been hammering me all night. He's a bit north of me. And I believe in a lower lying area. My boy is in Gainesville. They're getting it too.

I hope so, too....but if there's anyone on this forum that I (don't really) know (personally, tho I've talked to him on the phone a few times) who I believe can take care of themselves and their family, it'd be him. Plus, he's got a boat.

WW is just to the south of the "neck" or big bend of Florida, where the panhandle and peninsula meet, right where the hurricane made landfall.

The 3 "positive" things is the hurricane was only a "Cat 1" when it hit (the last I heard) and WW is inland, not coastal, so he would only have rising water to contend with, not storm surge. Not that rising flood waters is a good thing. I would guess his worst potential problem would have been trees blowing over onto the house.

I suspect the cell phone towers in his area are inoperative for a couple of days.
 
He's a pretty resourceful sort of guy. I think his internet is a bit spotty under ordinary circumstances. Ya'll keep dry though, if possible!!

Had a couple trees on my property break and some strong winds and rain but nothing too serious. Everyone here but me slept through it.

Crazy though, had a ~3'X5' piece of tin ripped and thrown 50 feet, it had 2 screws in it using it to keep critters out of the old wood shed. Had a couple beer bottles thrown 25 feet or so off my picnic tables, tarps pulled of my boat and grilles and chair on the front deck thrown off the front deck..... But on the back deck NOTHING was moved an inch :confused: There was plenty of stuff on it but nothing got thrown around. Weird.
 
That's good to hear Wood. That one large feeder band ripped through our neighborhood. I've been in these storms before. This thing was the strongest force winds I've been in for a long while. It blew a huge oak over and onto my neighbors house. I had two pretty good size branches (like yours) come down in the yard. Both came down close to the house, but didn't hit it. Other stuff blown all over. We were fortunate. I wasn't too sure how low your area is. I'm on a hill, so no flooding. Not sure what the nearest town to you is, but my son is in Gainesville, and was okay...

Also, Not sure how many of you guys felt it, but we had a 5.6 earthquake this morning. Originated just a few miles away from us. Supposedly it could be felt from Nebraska to Texas, felt like some picked the house up and threw it
 
we felt it 250 miles NNE of you.
shook the house pretty good, freaked out the dogs, the wife, the GD Pigeons nesting in my porch roof.....
reminded me of my bachelor days when I slept in a waterbed......

Catching up on nark. Man you guys are slacking! I guess its that time of year... end of the summer. People actually out doing stuff before school rolls around for the kiddos.

Nothing really new around my neck of the woods. Just living that daily routine. Applied for a new position in my company :thumbup: Callbacks for interviews are the end of next week. If all goes well, I'll be working with the warehouse director in the near future (as well as getting a pretty hefty raise :D).

Damn, hurricanes...earthquakes...it's all coming to an end.
Glad everyone is ok. We got a little rain yesterday. They said we'd get a bunch today but it's dry as a bone.
 
Actually getting a few moments on the computer tonight :thumbup:

Having a bit of spending money and looking at the exchange :thumbdn: so tempting :(
