Over to the farmers market this morning and headed outside right now.....gonna try and thin out the knife herd, and I need to get some pictures. Plus, yaknow...yardwork. Still need to finish cleaning and putting pool stuff in it's winter bed, and the lawn needs cutting down. Hopefuly rebuild the target stand I broke - though I don't know how much good that'll do me seeing as how my bow is in the shop with a broken cam :superduperbummer: and hunting season started a couple days ago. I'm trying real hard not to splurge on another bow....I dunno when I'll get mine back - and this all started when I broke my string at the end of July. Been nearly 2 months since I shot regularly, if at all.

OK, now I need to go outside.

Been staying busy over here... Found a local plant nursery with crazy low prices so i been working on landscaping...

12 howardi ligustrums and 2 variegated pittosporum... All these were between 12-24" and a bald cypress that is 6 feet tall... Paid 15 for all of it... For 15 plants....

Going back for crepe myrtles.... Other places i looked want $20+ for single 2-3 foot plants... I can get them here for $7 and they are 5-6 foot tall..

It's an old man that runs the nursery beside his house... Cool guy... Had a part time help wanted sign... I'm thinking i may see if he still needs the help... I could learn quite a bit from the fella and maybe make a few bucks while learning something i enjoy.

I think the Bladite will enjoy this one:

Worst. Snark thread. Ever.

It's 7:40 here and I'm trying my darnedest to get wrecked in the bar across the street from my apartment. Because why not?

Please don't perform what I call "crepe murder". You know where people cut their crepe myrtles off because they get too tall? And you end up with these ugly knobs where the cuts form calluses and spindly little growth. The only reason landscapers do it is for a pay check.

UGLY>>> If you want short crepe myrtles, buy DWARF varieties. A short list is in the second link.

i saw somewhere on treestuff.com and other arb sites something called "tree topping" which is similar. done by power companies and bad tree cutters. paycheck. they know they'll be back to fix it, or so on.

same deal for tree climbers that use spike gaffs. worst thing ever for a tree you plan to keep. if you got someone calling themselves an arborist, esp if they claim to be certified (verify it!), AND they are using gaffs for anything but dismantling a tree, fire them on the spot, they're killing your trees for money.

You don't seen enough murder pots these days. Everyone wants to talk it out and refrain from violence. I miss the good old days when you were expected to kill someone for disrespecting your wife or insinuating you were a pansy. When men where men and were expected to kill and be killed over some arbitrary sense of honor. Bring back public dueling, I say.

i hear ya...

how much is your bow worth? bass pro used to have a generous buy back for any bow...

i'm nursing a cold today, else i'd have done mega yardwork.

going to keep the pool open a few more weeks, but i have the closing chemicals and stuff ready to go. plenty of time :D

i too haven't shot at all this Summer. too damn hot. really. i even gave up going outside on the porch most evening. plus i had other chores.

few more trees to wrangle.

want to buy a new target bow. and a cross bow. and more tractor gear. and ...

oh yeah, i have a $$$$ dental commitment coming up - for the best i guess.

but back to that cold. a glass of mead, and bed soon.

I've been at this bar steadily drinking Redd's Apple Ale for roughly 3 1/2 hours. I have lost most of my sense of touch and taste. Overall, not the worst Saturday night ever, even though I'm drinking alone.

Howdy all. Hope all are doing well.

I'm not around here very much, but I'm still representing everyday.

The eight bucks is for a chicken strip basket, the rest is Redd's.
