I have had loads of requests for hex hawks with a bottle opener... Here is a really rough draft of where I'm at with that...


No matter where i add the opener the design doesn't look as clean... As cool... To me... The bottom Will still be the same but no hex cutout on the top... If i add it.. It looks cluttered.

What do you guys think? Add the bottle opener or no?

Cool. I think a slightly more aggressive design revision would be necessary. Trying not to go down this rabbit hole, I have other things to do! Mmmm... Hex hawk.

Have you considered making the bottle opener the upper hex cutout as well - just with an open side? Might look goofy as all get out, but might not. (Drawing is not my strong suit)

The bottom hex is 1/4" for hex bits... the top hex is not really functional.... well it is if you just so happen to run into that size bolt but the top is more for looks. So i was trying to keep the bottom the same to keep that "functional" cutout.

The other problem is... I can throw what looks like a bottle opener to me anywhere.... Doesnt mean it will pop a top very well. The people who do my waterjet stuff didnt want to cut out a single regular hex hawk for me to test back in the day so im sure they wont want to cut a single one now either for testing.

I like D. Im just not sure it will open bottles efficiently.

Yep. Just like D.

I wonder if a local machine shop would make you a single one at a price that wasn't insane - especially if you just need them to do the opener part on a piece of steel without the rest.

I vote B -- and make the top hex 5/16" which is also a fairly standard size for hex bits.
 
Why not keep the original design and open up the bottom section of the beard? Flatten out the heal of the bit on the underside to keep it a little thicker to lift the caps. Then move the finger groove on the belly of the handle down a little bit. This way you get to keep both of your hex's.
