I may well end up regretting that...
At one point or another im sure you will LOL
If anyone in this house grabs a treat Neko will come, sit, stand, and high 5..... He hasnt perfected the high 5 yet but we are working on it...
Anyways, if the wife or kids just call him or tell him to sit when they dont have a treat.. He will look at them like they are stupid, turn his head sideways, and then walk off and lay down. Nearly every single time.
He listens to me better than anyone, of course im the one that has spent the most time working and playing with him, but even with me he only listens about 75% of the time on a good day if im not holding a treat. The aggravating part is that we know he knows what to do, he is just an A-hole LOL.....
If your trying to get him to come and he is not listening... if you walk over and grab the treat bowl he will start going through all the basic commands on his own... He runs up, sits, stands, then tries to give you a high 5... Because he knows thats what we want him to do, but he has the attitude if he isnt getting anything out of it he isnt even going to try. He is very head strong and alpha like.
The "Dogs101" video on the Shiba's breed starts like this "looking for a dog that's easy to train? Well keep looking" LMAO so i knew well before i got him that he would be stubborn. I was trying to get him to settle down one day so i could work with him and he was just walking all over me doing what ever he wanted and just blowing off his commands... So i slapped myself upside the head and my wife says "what?" i told her im a damn idiot for getting this damn dog LMAO
Now i wouldnt trade Neko for any other dog out there, we have already bonded, but a head strong dog can definitely be a challenge!!
