Warm thoughts and many prayers continue to head your way!

We appreciate it, guys :)

It's not an end-of-the-world kinda thing, just not very much fun for Angie. I'm confident it will work out OK one way or another.

I don't think you need a full machine shop, sounds like some files and a drill press is all you need.

Yea i was thinking more like a CNC machine LOL... But im sure a drill press and some files could pull off something that works.... Just not sure how it would look LOL

Packing stuff up and getting ready for the trip tomorrow. Super excited about this weekend.

Hopefully i dont cut my f-kin hand off LMAO!!

I was watching videos of the comps and noticed how some people put there unused hand behind their back, some people keep it in their front pocket... So i asked Dan if there was an official rule on what your suppose to do with the hand your not using.... He said, "The official rule is dont cut your f-in hand off" "you may need it later" :D

as long as you keep everything squared up I think you'd be just fine. Would you thread the inside or keep it flat? I think the threaded MAY be better if it has something to thread onto.

Exactly! You never know when you're going to be in the mood for some strange :P

There is nothing to thread to. But hell if using the right machinery you could just make a new tail cap that has exterior threads for this purpose...

I was thinking about this a little last night as well... if i just wanted to tail stand it a basic cap is all it takes, i got it to stand up great with the lid of a small bottle, but if i was wanting to use a magnet to place it on a metal wall, side of a car or whatever without threads the cap would need to be high enough to support the light and keep it from falling out, and the magnet would have to be a good one too.

This isnt something ill be doing... It was just something i think would be easy to do with the right equipment and also could be a great accessory to these flashlights. I plan on drawing up my idea and sending it to Fenix though. Maybe they can make it happen.. One comment i have noticed several times on the candle power forum about these type lights is people wishing they would tail stand... I think that could be a real easy fix.

I admit i didnt get this at first, but when i realized you meant your other hand IS the strange i cracked up. :D

Not sure how many hunters we have here, but I just checked the trail camera.

I am happy to report that this guy from last showed back up...

and he now looks like this...:D

It looks like he is nocturnal, so I likely won't even see him, but it is damn cool to see a deer like that back on the property.

You don't want to be "pressing" a drill press into service as a lathe or mill unless you want to blow out the spindle pretty quickly... they're just not built to handle side-load. You can get away with using them with sanding or buffing drums for light finishing work if you're careful, but I definitely wouldn't recommend doing any actual stock removal that way. Besides, that would take forever... making something round with files at drill press speeds.... screw that, not me buddy.

I have a "spare" drill press I sometimes use for sanding because it has pretty bad runout and doesn't drill very accurately anyway.

So i asked Dan if there was an official rule on what your suppose to do with the hand your not using.... He said, "The official rule is dont cut your f-in hand off" "you may need it later" :D

I'm trying to get in the habit of holding onto my belt behind my hip with my off hand. Whatever works. :)

Will it fit inside a standard size of PVC or copper or steel tubing, something like that? Cut to length, glue/solder on a piece of the same material to close off the bottom, and JB-Weld a couple little rare-earth magnets to that. Boom, done.

That awesome cb, really hope you get it. The very first time I went hunting we nade a buck about that size walk into the clearing in front of us and when I went to take my shot all I heard was "click", hadn't chambered the round right, which surprisingly didn't scare off the deer, so my dad handed me his rifle, which I had only shot once before, and I completely missed. Still kicking myself over that one

I dont own a drill press anyways LOL

And thats how i been practicing is holding my belt around my hip, i have tried in my pocket as well but felt like i couldnt get the same momentum... if that makes any sense.

It may fit in some type of tubing, its 1" in diameter, Exactly 1" at the widest part of the tail cap according to my calipers. And that sounds like a much simpler way to do this than with files!!

I have one. One of the few tools that I got from my grandpa before the other cousins cuffed it. One of them tried to, and he was quickly shot down on that and told to not even think about it again. I use it a lot, my sister likes doing "cra(p)ft projects" and usually needs help finishing them so I use the press. It's a Craftsman I think a .5 HP one, but for perfectly vertical drilling it can't be beat!

Looks like ill have a couple sweet shirts to wear over the weekend :D

Thank you both very much Todd and JD!! I really appreciate these guys!!

Thanks, buddy. I am a meat hunter, but it would be pretty awesome to see this one hanging on the wall.

Hope you bag that dear cb

Glad you got the shirt in time WW,.........also, table top drill presses are worth there weight in gold and not expensive. You can get a small press, a small assortment of drills and a cheap vise and not be into it more than $100. Bucks. You ought to pick one up. You would thank yourself for it.

yep.
my buddy's HF special runs smoother and more true than my old craftsman, and he's beat the snot out of it for years. Mine has a little more power, but his has a bigger chuck (which makes no sense).

Thanks again Todd!!

And id have already bought a drill press and belt sander that was for sale locally at a great price several months back.... but i just dont have any room for the stuff here. Once i move i will definitely start getting setup with tools though..... Hell my father only lives a couple miles from the property im buying and he just bought a 3rd workshop.... He has plenty of tools :D I already told him he might as well go ahead and make me a spare key.... He just doesnt have a grinder.. Well, he has a couple grinders.... But not the ones people use to make knives LOL
