Me too cheap is good.

My steel came in this morning. So I went to a tile store today and got a couple 2x6" ceramic tiles. At .85 cents a piece i figured i better grab an extra just in case.. I hate going to stores so this way i have a backup if i manage to screw up the first one. Got some JB weld here as well. Gunna go ahead and rig that up today.
 
Just piss poor planning on my part.

I mixed up the jb weld and got the ceramic plate put on where i wanted then found out the only clamp i had that has a wide enough mouth to clamp them together was the one i use on my file jig. Now both my file jig and my grinder are out of commission while it cures.

Also i used too much JB weld and a it came oozing out the sides LMAO. Thats no biggie to me though. Id rather use too much than not enough. I got it cleaned up while it was still wet.

Something I learned a long, long time ago, grasshopper.... You can never have too many clamps of various sizes in you shop/work area. :D

Never, ever have just 1 of any size. My preferred minimum quantity is 4. Barber Weight on sale is your friend. Many of my clamps were so purchase for as little as $1 a piece. I also will buy old rusty clamps at garage sales and estate sales. Rust can be cleaned and clamps never wear out.

Just guessing, I THINK I have about 80 clamps ranging from 1.5" clamps up to 3 ft pipe clamps.
 
I have 1 vise, 2 different sized c-clamps but both small, and 1 6" heavy duty steel bar clamp.

But i just started getting tools and such a few weeks ago. In time sensei, in time :D


How long do i need to leave that thing clamped up? I have read it takes like 4-6 hours to set and 15-24 hours for a full cure. Does it need to be clamped the entire time it cures, or just while it sets for 4-6 hours?

I still wont use it for 24 hours, im just wondering if it needs to be clamped the entire time it cures or just while its setting.
 
Once it sets, you should be able to unclamp it, cause after it's set, it's set. Not gonna go anywhere.
 
Anybody got exciting plans for the weekend or is everyone still in Gathering recovery mode?
 
My weekend plans are working on my Jeep and try to finish my knife before the Northeast gathering.

I can't wait to head to NH and hang out!

Doing another overnighter at the cabin tomorrow night. My brother is coming with me this time. Should be fun.

Let's see... a fence to repair that a tractor ran into, 4 broken windows to replace, a broken water pipe to fix, a dozen paper towel racks to assemble, a throwing knife target to construct, gotta water the garden, and that's all before the game at 1100. :D

My wife and I are headed down to a nearby state park for a few short hikes and lunch tomorrow.

Dunno yet. The Magua and vik Farmer are a given pair, but other than that I might have to flip a coin or something.... Could be a toss up between the trusty BK16 or the entirely underused ESEE 3.

Good choices. My 3 is underused as well. I have the 3 and Candiru in my sling bag, and have been planning on doing a hike and using them, but we haven't been doing hikes much since the cabin came into the picture. I hope to change that soon though.
