Got the BCG for my M4gery in yesterday, now I just need to swap the carry handle for a BUIS and get a RDS and a light/mount. Then I just need to finish my AK's, my 336w, my other AR15, my Mossberg 500, the 1911, build my other stripped lower...

Sheesh!! I thought I have a lot that i wanted done. I need a barrel and trigger for my Savage 30-06, some trigger work and a few other odds and ends on my Kimber 1911, and a different grip safety on my Sig 1911. I can do the rifle myself, but I'll have to get a smith to do the 1911's.

I eat chili whenever it's put in front of me, as long as it has two things... Beef and Spice.

I agree with this statement.

Mmm guns. I played with a Beretta 92A1 the other day. Me wants one. It also takes the same mags as my storm = winning.

Pirates cove is a great way to get through the work day. So is sharpening knives at your desk, and playing cellphone games :D

We had Friday off from school this weekend, that was fun, mostly because my dad is currently working out of state this weekend, and my mom is in MI to see her mom. That leaves us kids home alone for 3 WHOLE days! It's amazing what one can accomplish with 24 extra hours. I am really starting to learn the value of time now, due to being in public school.

Do you guys suppose that acorns would be any good? I read a while ago that you can eat them if you boil them a few times, because they have mildly toxic tanic acid in them. I think I'm going to try boiling them twice in a change of water, and roasting them. Then I'll crack the shells and smash them up, that may make either a kind of flour, or something I can stick in stew to thicken it. I'll try both. (don't worry, I'l do some reading.:p)

From my recollection, I wouldn't call them good, but also wouldn't call them bad. Kind of neutral... In the interest of full disclosure, I did this over 35 years ago when I was a wee lad in Boy Scouts, so my memory may be a bit fuzzy. It seems like I was wishing for some salt, pepper, butter, bacon, etc, to provide a little flavor to the bland goo...

Started cutting up canvas to make MikeKarta....if it works, I'll make more.

Jonny, I've always thought that the Camillus slabs look a little chunky and flat to be comfortable....kinda like the OKC Micarta, which I definitely do not find pleasing to hold. But then again, I've never held the Cam Micarta handles, so I'm totally going on superficiality.

I will say that Brute looks gorgeous stripped with them on, though; the leather pants turns the whole package into a very smexy package...but muscular at the same time, kinda like Serena Williams ;). Looks good, but you know it could do some damage....

How do you like the Camillus handles Jonny? Looks purdy

I liked them OK when they were on my BK5.
Now that they're on the Brute they feel a little bit blocky because of the 1/4" scales.
Not too bad though.
I really like the looks now, especially with the Kelley Customs leather dangler.

I've had two savage 110's and I'd like to get another. Or really just a long action so I can get an aftermarket '06 barrel on it and laminated stock.

My 1911 is a Springer MC operator so I'll probably just send it to their custom shop to get the ambi safety switched to a left-side only, finish the trigger, barrel, and bushing in black (don't know why they make it with SS parts), get the front strap checkered and undercut the trigger guard, and see if they'll change the MSH to remove the infernal lock. Maybe lighten the trigger some.

I think the only project gun I have done is my '92 Sig P220 that I added slim grips and a SRT kit to. Most of my other guns have something I want to do to them.

I had the Camillus scales on the BK10 I sold. I liked them a lot.

Well.... I think our hiking trip will be delayed a bit.

Don't worry. Everybody is fine. We just had to stick around because the Cadillac was pushed into the front of our car.

Anybody need a 10 bolt?

Well this is cool, guys!

I boiled some acorns for about 10 mins, then I took the shells off. After I took the shells off (which took some time) I boiled them again for about 20 mins. Them I dried them off and put them in a blender, and with just the water that was still left on them they turned out like stiff cookie dough. I added about a tablespoon more water, and blended it a bit more. Then I cooked it like bannock, which is to say, I flattened it out and put it into a pan with some oil. It didn't really cook, the soft stayed soft and what was touching the pan went black quickly. I said "to hell with it" and grabbed some, put some syrup on it, and tried it. I really liked it, and so did my sister. So I'll call this a success. If you put this n a chopper I think it would come out like chopped nuts (go figure), and you could add them to soup, or eat them like cereal wit sugar. Like GSO said, alone they are very bland.

Ugh, that sucks, Jerry! I hope it works out OK and nobody manifests any injury's later on. I'm glad you know what's important though, posting pics for us so soon. :D:thumbup:

I have tried them several ways. Boiling several times to leech the tannins, roasting, raw.... but what i preferred was when we took a net and placed hundreds of them in there and put them in the river for 2-3 days tied to a tree branch, letting the flowing water naturally and slowly remove some of the tannins. Then we ground them up to a flour and made like pancakes out of it. Not bad. Not the best thing you ever ate either but not that bad. Definitely edible when your hungry. Also different types of acorns have different taste and different amounts of tannins. Some can be much more bitter and require longer leeching.

If you are just wanting to do it as a learning experience i say go for it, With adult permission and supervision preferably!! In a survival situation the amount of time it takes to prepare them can waste valuable energy and if there are other wild edibles around (normally there are where there are oak trees) you may be better served eating them while you wait for the acorns to leech. Also dont expect your normal delicious cakes or bread out of acorns LOL

Oh yea disclaimer... Dont eat ANYTHING from the woods, wild, forest etc.. Just because it looks like something you seen on the internet does not mean its OK. If your going to do it anyways take a sample of the exact plant to someone who has experience, take pictures of the surrounding area where it grows and what other plants are around it... ..... Better yet just eat what you get from the grocery store LMAO

Jonny nice brute brother.

Glad you are alright Jerry, get checked out just in case!

Our grand Prix didn't even budge. Bumper is a bit scuffed & I can feel where it has collapsed the foam underneath. We were the only ones not shaken enough to give a coherent statement then we were good to go after they drug the axle out of the way.

The truck did have a few kids in it and I have a hunch that nobody in it was bucked up. They are real lucky.
