I have that same grinder, it works great. That tumbler looks really cool. I am curious how long it takes to get the desired effect. I thought about "tumbling" a knife or too in the back of my Jeep for a week or so. That looks like a way better idea.

Headin' east in the mornin'... almost to the North Carolina border. The wife and her parents and I are gonna drive like hell on some of the curviest roads on the continent and look at some gorgeous scenery and get some fresh apples from an orchard we know and have a picnic lunch somewhere along the way. (remind me to snap a pic or two for the Becker/Fall Colors thread). If time allows, we might even stop by SMKW and say howdy to Uncle E.

Thanks bro, I have watched videos of people doing it for 30-45 minutes or so to get a nice stonewash finish. Im going to play around with different mediums and times to see what type of results i get and which i prefer.
 
I am interested in tumbling... Mainly because Derek asked me to be. :-P
 
Im interested in it mostly for the mini hawks... But ill probably try and stonewash the BK14 this weekend.

Just showed this to my 7yr. old daughter. She informed that a horse with wings and a horn is, in fact, called an allocorn. There, now we can all feel smarter :)

Yeah saw that about a week ago. A 2hr. film that shows the monster for like 20 mins. Awesome...not really.

Probably why I don't watch movies (or TV) lately. I mean, who can take the chance? On the downside, I've just spent more time than I care to admit sanding one side of my 7 project. Like I'm ever a gonna use a fighter.....tho it does have a seriously defended beer opener.

I've been trying to keep knifemaking in the knifemaking thread, but since I just made a little snark (pardon me) I'll drop this little bit of knifeporn here as well.

So its about 3:20am right now. All the kids decided to join us in bed tonight.... and woke me up about an hour until my alarm for work. Now everybody is back sleeping and I can't get back to sleep... Today is going to be a long day :( Going to need the xtra large coffee on the way into work!

I decided to see what this tumbler is all about, dont have any more acetone to finish stripping the 14s handle but ah well, ill do that another time LMAO.... I went ahead and gave the wee Becker an acid bath then threw it in the tumbler about 30 minutes ago... Ill be taking it back out in 15 minutes or so and cleaning it up and seeing how it looks. Maybe doing a 2nd cycle if its not a heavy enough stonewash.

My tumbler is only the 5 pound capacity one and only small blades will fit. I wanted to practice on the Ontario RD4 but i couldnt get it in there so i went ahead and tried it on the Becker.

You should set all the alarms in the house for 15 minutes after you walk out the door. If you have a desktop PC you can set them to go off every 15 minutes and password protect it too... That would make sure they stay up LMAO!!

Although you may find the computer in pieces when you get home... If so dont blame me :D

Hah! If I did something like that, I wouldn't just have to worry about a smashed computer. When I come home I may be looking down the barrel of one of my guns lol!

Even better solution is to get them all as rested as possible then kick everybody out of the house while I nap later :D I just may cough syrup them all before I leave :rolleyes:(just snarking)
 
LOL! You wouldn't be the first dad to slip a little cough syrup into the juice cup. I personally never did it but I know lots of parents that thought nothing of it back in the day.

I personally believe medicine is for the sick or people in pain. If they dont need it, they ain't getting it. A healthy dosage of fresh air and dirt works just as well ;)

I hope the weather is nice later today, maybe take the little 'uns for a walk
 
Just because it's a Saturday morning don't think you can all slack off. Jeez, it's not like you guys actually have other things to do....
