Sneak Peek At The New Busse Custom Shop Bowie Knife! ! ! ! ! . . . .

So it is going to be available to the masses, and not a AG Russell exclusive?

Masses, but hard telling how many they'll produce. They could be a limited run, or they could be a mass produced custom shop piece.

And the way I read Jerry's post about the custom shop heading in a new direction, I interpreted that as in kinda mass produced but still limited. Think SFNO LE limited, but more than 300. But this is just my thought, which is usually worth lower than 2 cents ;)

Thick - just the way I like my INFI. :D Fortunately, I'm not into bowies, or I'd have to get in debt just to get one of these beauties. Looks great.

No, they are not yet available for order. They did not have a time frame when I asked, but some time in the future they will apparently be available for order.

Probably get chastized for this, but any chance they could make something like this in say a 5-6 inch blade range? I just don't ever see myself carrying anything THAT large. Could save money on materials too! All the same beautiful knife.

I think you are looking for a different blade. You definitely need to do more searching in Busse knife line. I’m pretty sure that you will find plenty of blades that will fit your needs in 5” to 6” blade range. For instance the new model called Team Gemini is a shorter blade than Battle Pappy is and also features guard. It’s a different guard than on Battle Pappy but in this particular model it is great solution if we take weight into consideration. From what you wrote I believe that this could be something what you are looking for.

On the other hand Battle Pappy is different model by far and it is perfect as it is. It combines the best blade thickness .320 (as FBMLE), the best blade grind (also as FBMLE) in combination with the optimal blade length and with lethal tip added. Plus new line of one piece handles  and a great looking guard made out of INFI . I can’t imagine something better than that.

Only thing that I’d personally welcome on this model would be G10 handles. I don’t mean it as a change from micarta handles but only as an option added for some customers/users that would prefer little bit more indestructibility and impact resistance that G10 can offer. Little more extra weight wouldn’t be a problem on this knife since it would only add more control over beautifully beefy blade. (It would be in one piece the same as micarta handles shown).

In custom blade comparison thru my eyes the other custom shop models shrink to insignificance standing next to Battle Pappy.

I’m saving money for this knife for quite a while now and I hope it will be available to foreign customers that couldn’t come to AG Russell Show to pre-order it.

Perhaps you're right. I saw those but I've never liked the guards or handles of the Busse's up until now. This is a style of knife I could get behind and aesthetically it's very pleasing as well. I always thought the older Busse handles looked kind of like lumpy sausage...haha.....but yeah I'd love to have a knife like this in 5 inch blade format....I don't think it would be unreasonable to carry that with me.

I asked at the Tulsa show, and was told that they are working on them, but they are a real pain in the butt!

Thanks for the info Tom !

You know I'd like to order one. Amy said that they will be available very soon but that was like two months ago.

I guess it's not easy to manufacture perfection
