So, how many pushups can you do?

Any of you folks ever start a thread, have it resurface a year later and feel like an asshat for ever starting it in the first place?

I did 40 in a row on my 40th bday. That was 6 years ago. Probably make me puke right now. But I do have about 6 Sierra Nevada pale ale's in me. Hehe. Don't want to waste good beer.

498... 499... 500. Okay, that's my morning set. I'll do another 500 tonight.

This one's been good for some laffs though. My wife is still laughing about T-Rex. Also, she's at 45 pushups right now (real ones, not girl-style with no knees).

My question to you all is how many pull ups can you do? I am at 18. At the moment ..lol

30, wide grip.

Of course, I'm at a weird stage of life now. I can climb ladders using only my hands, can bench 120 pounds more than I weigh, but due to recurring lower back injuries and spasms, I cannot carry as much weight around as my wife can.:(

You never realize how important the lower back is until it craps out on you. It really is the main linkage for the body.
So, no more squats with weight or dead-lifts for me, even though it feels really wimpy doing body weight squats...and even those will screw up my back if I do too many.

True words. I feel your pain. I've got a Stryker cages in my L2/L3 vertebrae. People who never had back pain just don't understand. Take care of your backs, people. Back injuries rarely heal completely. Hurt it once, pay forever.

Happily, my wife is in DO school, which means she's learning all the nifty osteopathic manipulations to address and alleviate lower back pain. MD's are overrated.

I second this. I had 2 disks replaced, 4 vertebrae fused and a lovely set of titanium rods with a few bolts back in 2009.

Ouch !

Hear ya'll. Lower back trouble hear too. 2 deformed vertebrae and scoliosis (curvature).

Ended my football career ... In high school (lol) Don't make me go all Al Bundy on you and break out my Polk High shirt :D

If I stay in shape, muscles compensate. It's not too bad.

Get out of shape (like now) and ... it sucks.

Repeat after me: "Lift with your legs"

On the upside, this thread has motivated me to do extra pushups and situps every day. Should help me get fit again faster. Best necro in a while.

squawts. do you squawts! best exercise ever, next to a few others ;)

What, you mean I should work out my lower body too? Sheesh. I prefer doing those with a bar though. Harder to do at home, at least properly. My father-in-law gets fussy if I show up and haven't been lifting right.

around 80 or so right now,but i snapped my arm in 2 on may 30th,so still recovering, did 115s for DB incline press if that counts.Breaking bones does wonders for getting out of shape in a hurry...

even body weight ones are better than nothing

get a dynamax ball if you need a spot, or a milk crate

you can use a stick for form, don't need additional weight. go double slow, make it burn. every day.
