Well, it was bound to happen someday...

Bought a Custom Titanium scaled Emerson Commander...
Well... to say I was excited to receive this thing is an understatement... I was SO pumped.

Immediately after unboxing it, I noticed items offered weren't included... no big deal right? I'll address that....

Well, the moment after I deployed it for the first time, I noticed immediately the clicking/clacking sound... Okay, lock rock... SWEET..
Well, I deployed it and showed my roommate how to almost guarantee yourself a trip to the emergency room..

So here's my next question.... I know NOTHING about the precise measurements needed etc.. Is there any custom knife guys who could help a brother out and give this thing a tuneup? Anyone know where to send it? I'm really digging the knife but obviously, I don't believe this just happened when I received it by mistake but regardless, it is what it is and I want to at least get her fixed right... any help would be SUPER appreciated..

He would "Fix" a knife he didn't make? I don't believe they made this.. Believe it was custom made outside his shop.
- Emerson will not fix modified knives. My guess is that you're getting lock rock from an inappropriate sized stop pin.

OH my. I see red flags abound in the pics you posted. That is not an Emerson custom. That is a modded knife for sure.

I would contact the seller asap.

Awaiting to hear back... He divulged it was a custom scale however IMMEDIATELY after opening the package, it was clicking away, took a short video and sent him moments prior to it relieving itself of the stop pin...

So you deployed the blade 2 times and the screws sheared off inside the stop pin???
Send it back, this is totally unacceptable. I hope you paid via PayPal goods. What items weren't included? Have you contacted jtskon01@yahoo.com yet?

I've never seen a stop pin held together like that. Aren't they usually simply nested between the liners?

Who customized the knife? Can you send it to them to repair it? Can you find out from the seller? Was it " all good" when they had it converted to a frame lock?

Mike

I believe I paid gift like an idiot on this one. I don't believed they sheared when I deployed it.. I believe it was clicking because the shearing had already occurred.. I've sent him an email.. awaiting a response.

You would think for stability that would be the strongest...?

I'm trying to find that out

Yea, me too bro...I received the knife in a little padded zipper bag and nothing else.

I'm not wanting to lynch the guy because well, I'd like to believe this was an unknown issue... but my common sense is steering me away from the idea that a knife broke itself on it's way to me... The rattle was SUPER prominent... the second I deployed it the first time I went from grinning to frustration and then to "I want a beer".

- Unfortunately, even if you get a better fitting "stop pin", you might experience an issue with shearing again. My guess is that instead of a solid stop pin absorbing the stress of use, the screw is going to. I don't think any screw is going to hold up well over time.

Is it some kind of uncanny coincidence that a greater number of these problem transactions are paid using gift?
