Everything but the knife yea... the liners, parts, box etc.

Ouch, upon arrival missing pieces that were supposed to be there, I would have immediately contacted seller at that point.

NEVER pay gift unless it is, period. Other than the fact that the pin is threaded it may be able to be fixed.

That is very sad indeed.
If he is not willing to take it back, which I think he should.
I would be willing to work on it for you. Working on a new stop pin set up and repairing the lock rock.
Matt

This doesn't surprise me Matt! 👍
Let's see if the seller chimes in? Although all remorse was lost when you paid gift! 😳

Whoops! I thought it was just a super commander.

Well, the way I see this you have 2 options. Keep it and fix it, or get the seller to take it back. Is it worth it to you to have to get it worked on? Or would you rather wash your hands of it?

A good custom knifemaker who makes folders should be able to fix that, no problem. But, I'd hit the seller up for the repair bill.

And don't ever, EVER pay as gift with paypal. If things go to chit, you have zero recourse.

I've never seen a stop pin held together like that. Aren't they usually simply nested between the liners?

Toker, i believe Benchmade 300's stop pin is similar? And im positive Emerson(productions) are nested. I know this in NOT "breaking news" but other members may not know this....

seller replied....

Pretty much said no way on a partial reimbursement for repairs, I told him to send me the rest of the items.
he mentioned Houston Hatchett - allegidly who did the work... anyone familiar with this gentleman?

After all said/posted about using the gift option to beat paypal out of a few bucks, you still did it.

If the seller tells you he has no idea what you are talking about, you gifted him money and he decided to gift you a knife you are of course dead in the water

Maybe then the lesson will finally sink in.

I just don't get it...........................

Im sorry you had to go thru it, and great full for the lesson to Newbies like my self.
Hope it works out for the best.

^ This is hopefully the best thing that will come out of this thread.

If I was buying a knife that was 'customized' to that point, I would want to know who did the work, and then I would take a look at their rep. BEFORE the purchase.

.......Never pay 'gift'.......

All the same, it sucks when these things happen, and I feel the OP's end of it.
Hope this gets resolved, but now it's up to the 'goodwill' or maybe lack of on the part of the seller for that to happen....

Well, make sure seller is aware of this thread. If everything is the way you stated then the seller doesn't belong in our community. Make sure you leave the appropriate feedback if he doesn't do the right thing. Needless to say people's integrity have been disappointing lately. I mean where is people's honor anymore?

Why the heck do people keep doing this?

Further, seller has 33 posts. All but 2 in some sort of buying, selling, or trading venue. And only 1 feedback. This person is not a member of this community. He is only here for money and stuff. Let this be a red flag for others.

Yup, unfortunately this is the only value to come from this thread. Oh, and to put the seller on ignore.

Again, look who you are buying from and never pay gift. You'd think it were that simple, oh it is!

You said the seller did not want to pay for repairs. Was the seller willing to give you a refund?

So, did he say no to a refund? Are you gonna keep it?
He said he would refund me or send me the parts, he clearly had no interest in repair fees.

Glad to hear bro, welcome to the forum!!!

He was, I honestly like the idea of a titanium commander and I want to try and salvage it.. it's a really slick knife... I just can't imagine how someone that skilled could have decided to engineer a weak link like that?

Like they say, if life gives you lemons, make lemonade. If the knife can be salvaged for the cost of reworking the stop pin, you may end up with a decent knife after all.

It is only natural for the rest of us to critique the deal, but the real value of the forums is getting you and the knife where you want to be. This not a court, it's friends helping you get there.

Another case of a dishonest person stealing from PayPal and expecting better from a seller. Go figure.

Hey Reignman,

I almost bought this one before you - I asked the seller about it in an email to him before-hand and I was turned off by the response. Here's what he said...hope this helps:

It was modified by Houston Hatchett, who is an engineer and did this mod for me, and an Emerson CQ8, also into a framelock conversion. I don't know much about him, except that he does good work, and was very accommodating. It is solid with zero blade play, no stick, and I think the date on the knife is 2013. It's basically unused; I may have opened an envelope or two. I'm selling it because I'm moving to collecting all customs now, and I need to sell some earlier pieces off. Please let me know asap if you still want it. Thanks!
