So I received my SRM 710

If all you're going to do on this forum is "argue" then I hope you don't stay here very long. Your holier than thou lawyer attitude is extremely abrasive, knives aside.

Sorry to abrade your tender feelings, but if you can't argue rationally, don't bother posting. I didn't bring up the fact that I was a lawyer. I merely confirmed it after what might have been a snide comment (or not). But I'll argue long and hard with anyone I please, so long as I think I have the facts and the experience to do so. If you think you have the facts and experience to counter my arguments, please present them. My mind -- unlike many others -- is always open to reasoned persuasion. If you don't like what I have to say, I bet there's an "ignore" button somewhere. I'd advise you to use it.

So you touched a 710 once in passing without knowing if it was new or used, never used it or sharpened it or did more than fondle it at a table. And from that minimal experience, you are trying to educate other people about it. That's about what I thought.

You can try and call into question my experience and credibility all you want but the fact remains that this knife:

Is a blatant rip-off (I won't bother getting into semantics about the definition of the term 'rip-off' since I'm sure everyone else in the thread has a firm grasp of what I'm saying) of this knife:

I wasn't arguing with you, but at any rate I don't think I'll let you dictate my posting. You're going to go far here, kid.

You read my mind.

Sure it does. Except for the shorter clip point on the blade, the stud, the size of the jimping, the rounder edges, the shape of the finger indentation, the finish on the metal and most importantly the lack of logo. But other than those things, yeah exact duplicate. I was fooled.

Gadfly22 your sound logic and reasoning cannot defeat real world, anecdotal evidence.

The people arguing with you have no modern TVs, computers, cars, pencils, or clothing because they're all ripoffs from the original designs.

Listen, you go ahead and keep buying from companies that profit from other people's hard work and tell yourself whatever you want to make it ok to do so.

I'll keep trying to support a market for quality products and help reputable manufacturers compete with sleazy manufacturers by doing so.

after so many of these threads in my short stint here. all the same points and counter points have been hashed out. no one is going to convince the other side to change their mind....it is an exercise in futility. fun to read, though.

the end result is always the same. some like 'em for the price point and fit and finish quality, and some do not for being either chinese made, copying designs, average materials used rather than higher grade materials, or some other political reasoning, or all of the above. there it's hashed out.:)

i own a couple srm's including a 710. i like mine and they work well for me. others dislike 'em, so be it. too each their own......

Well, hang on. Tolerance of another's opinion is usually well received here. It hasn't gotten really personal yet, and if things work as they do around here, the blatant lack of respect for one another's OPINIONS will turn quite nasty.

Then the fun starts. Personal insults, pronouncement of personal qualifications and the self satisfied sarcasm make hilarious reading!

That is until Dad comes along ( Usually the ever-seeing Esav :D ) and locks down the thread.

EDIT: Wow... from the time I scribbled this to the time it was posted this thread is starting to pick up steam! Stay tuned!

Robert

Umm, not to go all Marxist on you, but when a US-based company uses low-cost foreign workers -- like Spyderco, Kershaw, Benchmade et al. all do -- they're the ones profiting from the hard work of others. The owners of those companies choose to obey the market (and I don't blame them). Brands like Sanrenmu happen to be foreign makers that sell a lot to Europe and Russia and, of course, China. For proof, consult the British Blades forum or the Russian-language reviews on Youtube. (I think it's Russian. Cyrillic alphabet and sound are all I can really go by.) Those guys love the "sleazy" brands -- but have no idea that they're sleazy. They're just foreign.

jbmonkey, you are a gentleman and a scholar. This thread has become that exercise in futility you mention, with personal insults and childish squabbling predominating. I thank you for being at least one bright light shining through the murk! :D

As for the rest of you, this thread is closed. :thumbdn:
