So where do you live?

I'm from the hometown of the world's worst President! Hot Springs Arkansas.
Lizabelle, You know what famous knife maker is from your college town don't you? If not, email me and I'll give you directions to the shop. If you haven't been there, you need to go. It's a must see.

Blades,
FayetteNam will never be the same without the 500 block of Hay St! Is Jim's Pawnshop still on Yadkin rd? They had one of the nicest collections of ClassIII weapons I've seen in a long time. Bought my first Randall at Cumberland Knife and Gun. Many good memories of the Ft. Bragg/Fayetteville/Springlake area. You from there or stationed there?

I cut it, and I cut it, and it's STILL too short!

I'm in and about Beltsville, Md (basically in the outlying suburbs of DC)...and have been around Md all my life (with a fair amount of travelling in between).

Silver Spring, MD for the last 15 years.

Have lived in Kansas, Michigan, Utah, California, Illinois and Pennsylvania - each one long enough to call it home.

I live in Amherst, MA. Anyone know of any good knife shops nearby?

I'm in the Boston area.As you have found out Mass doesn't have many good knife shops but does have a great club. The Northeast Cutlery Collectors Assoc. which does have shows. The other thing is Mass is home to some top notch custom makers, as is the rest of N.E.

Hey, Bob Irons I too am from Silver Spring, MD for the last 13 years. Work in D.C. as a
bureaucrat. Hey Bob, are you near downtown Silver Spring? If so do you know Atlantic Guns? They don' t carry a lot of knives but they have Spyderco and Benchmade so I'm happy. Also right across the street from them is a GREAT beer bar---
The Quarry House. Ever been there?

Wolf, do you DBA as Wolf's Knives? If so you made me a nice sheath for a big custom camp knife a couple of years ago.

Grew up in the east new york section of Brooklyn. My interest in knives started young when my dad,who worked for 21 yrs as a corrections officer at Rikers Island, used to show us some of the creative shanks, daggers etc. that the inmates would make(sentimental story huh?)..Now live in a small town in Brooksville FL.I went from riding the subway to riding horses!! I am a pharmacist and own a martial arts school with my brother..

Alexandria, Virginia, another suburb of Washington, DC.

Bob Irons and phantom4, it's a shame I can't come up and see the sights in Maryland, but I've heard Virginians need a passport to get into Maryland.

phantom4, is that an F-4 reference?

Phantom4, Bob Irons, dbruns, and Walker, all of you live 'bout 45 miles(straight) away from here. You know of any good knife stores besides Cheasapeake K&T? Should get together and meet sometime...
Email me when you can,

Afton, Wyoming, just south of Jackson Hole,
beautiful area, great hunting and fishing.

I see a small group forming around DC. Glad to see phantom4, prigger, Walker and Wolf close by. Did I miss anybody close to DC?

phantom4,

I haven't been to Atlantic Guns yet, sounds like I should check them out. Most of the malls around here seem to have a Chesapeake Knife & Tool. Decent selection, but too pricey for me. The best knife shop I've found was in Hancock, MD - The Knife Corner, but it's not exactly near by. I understand you can stop in at Howard Korn's KnifeCenter (of the Internet) in Beltsville, but I haven't done that yet. There's got to be some more knife stores around here. Particularly up Baltimore way - I can almost smell the Rem Oil, Flitz, etc... from up there. One other, Brian's DiscountKnives is in Rockville, but you can't drop in there.

Hey, Walker, we'll let you in. I understand Maryland has a special dispensation for knife nuts.

prigger,

We should get together and compare notes and swap war stories. email is good. You know, it wouldn't take much to make a "military" man out of me.

I usually can't leave town long enough to go to the big knife shows in NYC and other faraway places. There is supposed to be a show coming up at the end of April in State Line, PA at the auto auction place. Not sure if it's any good, but we might pick up some local makers names there and even learn about some new knife stores.
