So...................................

I have had good luck with S35VN lately. HAve no experience with Elmax but I hear it works well.

Apparently, some think that we should not vote in a general forum poll, because we skew the results. I think telling people not to vote is socialism? maybe? hmmm. I think we should show the ones who want to keep us down because of our INFI heritage that we will not be quiet. Lets get the votes up higher. Lets push for 200.....:D

Seriously though, I find it funny, that there is a thought that us voting there would skew results, when not voting skews them more.

😂😂😂 thanks for the heads up Cobalt - some pretty funny responses in that thread....and also thanks for the laugh!

Btw, if you like s35, you'd probably love Elmax - at least as tough (in my experience) with better edge holding, but ever so slightly less corrosion resistance...

I posted pretty much the same there.
Funny how that works...
Step one: Don't vote.
Step two: B**** about the ongoing results.

"Don't go vote for your particular favorite steel if it's INFI. It's unfair! I don't have any! I can't afford it!, etc., etc."

Haters got the high beams on. The complainers could rally their own troops if they wanted to... Or had any to rally.

The gauntlet has been thrown down for ANYBODY to vote for their particular favorite steel, yet the results are skewed when a bunch of people like the same steel? Psheeeeit. :/

I like a lot of different steels, but INFI has proven itself to me so many times that it's my favorite.

I'll take INFI for just about anything, but I really do like M390 in a folder. I have been really impressed with M4 too but I haven't used it enough for a fair comparison.

Elmax really hasn't done it for me like it seems to for everybody else. I cut a lot of plastic though, and it doesn't seem to stay aggressive. I haven't tried my Scrapmaxs though so I am basing that on the Elmax PM2.

Has anyone used m390 or equivalent (like 20cv) for fixed blades 4"+ and up? If so how did it hold up?

What about the steels that Rockstead uses in their folders...?

Thats some pretty sweet brew... if the demonstration vids are anything to go by...

ZDP isn't it??

I maybe the odd one out, but if the blade steel is decent, I don't care what it is for folders. 440c, 154, vg10, m4, cts-xhp, a2, h1, doesn't matter to me. Though I do have a preference for tool steels and carbon blades. I am much more concerned with geometry and blade shape.

I am picky when it comes to fixed blades. Priority to toughness for blades bigger than 5 inches, and priority to edge retention followed by ease of sharpening for knives with blades smaller than 5 inches.

I agree with all of this, although I do put a little bit of a premium on edge retention in folders. Spot on with fixed blades tho.

The hurtbutt is strong in that thread. I forgot that the Busse forum was quarantined from general population, apparently!

I have 20CV in a S!K GSO 5.1. But I haven't used it enough to get a feel for its edge holding.

Lol. Yeah the butthurtness in that thread is hilarious. Funny how some cant see how illogical their stand is.

Pretty fun entertainment though! And also pretty cool to see the various ways INFI fans are chiming in.

A little illogical butthurt goes a looong way when it comes to internet forum entertainment 🙃😜😂

I don't get how voting on a poll, or advertising the poll to a group of people who don't generally stay on that sub forum is skewing results........ But as much as I like my s35vn folders, they don't hold a candle to INFI or SR101 for edge retention or toughness (I'm more concerned with edge retention, it that's just me).

Then again, I don't hate on things I can't afford.....

Haha, funny you say that, thats the very knife & steel i have been considering. I just want one stainless all-weather proof knife that i can rely on and can take a beating in an emergency. Its 5.1 20cv or spartan horkos i have been tossing up unless a better option arises.

For everything else i dont need anything more than my sr101 and 3v. And perhaps INFI in the future lol
