Sodbuster...and lots of them!

Actually I think the Carbon Fiber Sodbuster is perfectly suited to a Stainless Steel blade. Maybe even a Super Steel Blade. It seems to me that this knife puts the best of the modern materials and traditional pattern together in a very pleasing way. There are any number of selections available in CV or, from different manufacturers, 1095. I think the modern materials and design of this specific knife just scream for modern blade steel. And I think those of you who know me, know that I am a staunch Traditionalist when it comes to pocket knives. But I also try to keep an open mind.

I agree Bob, a super steel on that knife would be even better suited! With the addition of a super steel, it would be a modernized take on an old pattern!

I do like the light weight and the gator snap.. Goes in the rfp on most of my hikes!! Wish it was CV though.. John

I feel the same. I really like how light & thin it is. I'd jump at the chance to get one in CV also.

I'm intrigued by the CF SBJ as well. I'd like to see a spine shot of the standard Soddie Jr, next to a CF Soddie Jr though, because I'm curious.

Howe's knife shop, where I got it, described it exactly that way: black canvas micarta. To me, the weave is very fine textured. My plan is similar to yours, but for a red one. Great knives, aren't they?

It's actually Black Linen Micarta, therefore the finer weave. You would know if it were canvas Micarta. There's a big difference.

Guys, I'm not trying to argue with you over semantics. I only posted the link to show where I saw the label - I actually just like the look of the knife and it's practicality. It certainly is a very fine weave on the micarta, as I noted, and quite good looking. Since it appears it's critically important to call it linen, let's all go get a cold one, call it linen...and then call it a day.

I love the internet.

Trevor- You get a semi-infraction for saying, G10.
:D

My red Mudbug has linen micarta, but when Howes listed the black one as canvas I thought they might have used the wrong image.

I'm still getting a black one, as soon as I can. If they are still available.

It says Linen down towards the bottom of the page you linked to.
The 'Canvas' was a typo.

awesome post. If it weren't the internet, I'd say, "first round is on me."
