I must amend my first post by saying that I *had* never had one.
I certainly do now thanks to trevytrev!
I was literally just oiling the pivot after a patina. Like right now. I have the syringe of mineral oil in my lap. The house still stinks of hot vinegar and my wife is still a little irritated.
I found the edge on this brand new Case Sodbuster Jr. to be very sharp, but not as acute as I normally keep my knives, so...
Traditionalists skip the next sentence! I put it on the edge pro and got it razor sharp.
I'm found the finish on the CV to be quite attractive, but there were a few reasons for the patina. The main one is that I was juuuust barely unable to pinch it open before with the polished finish. Now it's easy. Rust isn't really an issue for me, but a patina never hurts in that regard. It was also already getting scratched up from use, and I simply love the look of a nice patina. Also, I can't leave my knives alone. If I'm going to keep them (I'll keep this one forever) I feel like I must make it my own. I'll probably dye the Delrin too.
Anyway, these knives are everything I hoped and thought they might be. Excellent cutters, well made and a great value Imo.
Thanks again trevytrev! I'll post some pics after I've dyed it.
