Sodbuster...and lots of them!

Great timing on the thread. Just ordered AGRussell's newest sodbuster with the stabilized Indian Rosewood. Still waiting for the coral rucarta!

I received the Indian Rosewood Rancher last week, it's great! The three AG Ranchers I have, Yellow, Black and Rosewood are second to none in the fit and finish of my sodbusters. You'll love that knife Bemo and I'm with you in the line waiting for that Coral Rucarta.

Awesome bro, glad you are making it your own! Can't wait to see pics after the dye job, mine was an epic fail!lol. I'll post pics...

Cool, I want to see those!

Here's a couple of how mine looks as of now. The weird looking thing under the knife is a strop that I made for my friend.

Updated the pictures of the American Made sodbusters on the first page with info. Hopefully the Germans will be next to be updated, I have lots to add!

Wow, what a fantastic collection! Great thread :)

Trev, next time my wife asks if I have enough knives yet, I'm showing her your pictures. Outstanding! I think I might like the Spanish versions the best (heresy isn't it).

LOL! My wife thinks I'm ill, I can't disagree:D The spanish versions are nice, especially the Celaya's, but they are on the lower spectrum of my favorites. So yes, you are a heretic:D

My one and only Soddie. A SS Junior modified by Alan Davis.

I was going through my document safe; essentially a fireproof box to keep deeds, insurance policies etc, and sitting in a flat box at the bottom of the heap were these three knives!
I cannot remember how many years they have been there, maybe 10 years, but they were made in Germany. I understand now they have been farmed out to other countries - though maybe you could fill me in, Trev!!??
Kissing Crane Brown Mules in 3 different sizes:

Good looking trio you have there Waynorth! You are correct that they are no longer made in Germany. For a while they were farmed out to an Italian knife company called Antonini knives and marked Italy where yours have Germany. I'm pretty sure of this since I have the Brown Mules made in Italy as well as their counterparts made my Antonini with the companies name on the blade, they are identical is all aspects. I will get a picture of them together and posted tonight so you can see the similarities. So, a German knife is no longer made in Germany but Italy... but it get's even more tricky. As of the last year, to my knowledge, Kissing Crane has the Brown Mule farmed out to China now and they are marked accordingly. So the German knife that was made in Italy in now made in China. I have the china versions as well and will get some pics of those too.

I didn't know the RK Brown Mules, were made in Germany at one point, interesting. Glad to see the Italian models still available on the grey market. Something different at that price point.

Can you knowledgeable folk comment on the origin of this knife? The blade says Germany, but was it assembled elsewhere? Thanks!

From what I've found it would seem that the Brown Mule's marked Germany were actually made in Germany. When they are assembled someplace different they usually use the terms "German steel" or "Solingen Steel" on the blade and packaging, indicating "German" parts but the possibility it was assembled someplace else. When it just has the name Germany or Solingen on the blade then I believe that it is actually made in Germany. I've read that German law requires this when they are stamped this way and hence the reason why you will see "German steel" or "Solingen steel", which is a companies way of circumventing the law and tricking consumers to believe they are buying a German made knife. I believe the German Bull brand seems to do this a lot.
