Sodbuster...and lots of them!

Fixed up the sheat for my Soddie, just a tab of epoxy on the inside corners and it is snugged up.

Thanks! It's a button on sheath I found at an estate sale that had an unkmown original purpose. I did some hot water forming plus a bit of oil application to the leather, and have had to put in some stuff to jam the top so it doesnt get pushed out.

Cool.

So, I picked up this Imperial for 10 bucks at a flea market. New in the box. I like the handles on it a lot. But the fit and finish on this one is a bit off. Take a look

The blade is off a bit. Also if you look down the liners you can see they weren't finished smooth in that area.

Rub marks on the ricasso

The liners aren't finished flush with the spine.

Grind is off at the tip

I think I can fix these issues. It's 10 bucks so I expected some imperfection.

For size comparison, here it is next to a GEC Bull Nose

Landed a grail sodbuster yesterday, hopefully it will be here early next week. It's a sodbuster made by Case for their Case Camp which is for kids of the Case Collectors Club, but you need to attend the event. I've never seen one for sale and they are rare, so I'm pumped to add it! I also have all of the new releases from Case added, I'll get pics of all next week and a group Case family shot, it's become quite big! Love seeing all the pics everyone! Trevor~

I've gathered these so far. The GEC's have been outstanding. I really like the Case SB Jr, but all three of these had to be worked on to correct out of square handles, inconsistent swedges, and uneven rounding of the edges. They are pretty though, and well made besides the finish issues. The little guy is a Manny Saldana custom linerless, super sweet watch pocket knife.

This is my only Buster right now. I love this pattern and although I'm not a collector I'm thinking about starting a Case collection.

Cory, to whet your appetite, here is a picture of my Osage Orange Bullbuster. I haven't seen that many out there, but Osage is my favorite wood for knife scales. Post some photos when yours arrives!

That one's a beauty. I'm almost four months late on posting pictures of this one, but here she is all new and yellowy:

This is what she looks like today:

This knife has taken over almost all cutting duties. It's really just the perfect size and pattern for a no-nonsense, get the job done knife. It's one of those knives that makes me feel foolish for having so many other knives, as there's really no need for anything else in my daily life. The sodbuster pattern is unique in that it's a single blade, but it's thick enough to fill the hand comfortably where other single blades leave me wanting more in the heftiness department. It's easy to pinch open, which for us lefties means that we don't have to open it with the wrong hand or upside down, yet very solid in lockup. In short, I should have tried a full sized sodbuster sooner, and I will be carrying one very regularly from here on out.

I also have fallen in love with osage orange as a handle material. It's super durable, mine doesn't show a hint of wear despite being in my pocket for almost four months straight now, and very light. It's very plain jane when new, but takes on a ton of character in short order. I also like the way that it looks super dark from one angle and when you tilt it it changes color to a light orange-brown color. The combination of this wood with this pattern means that I don't see this particular knife getting left home anytime soon.

Beautiful Bull Buster. It would be great to see a #71 in osage orange wood. I could edc the 71. Not so much the 21 or mudbug.

I've been carrying this 71 Bullnose nearly every day since I got it in December. It's been about a month since I really sharpened it so I thought I'd post a pic of her after I got done.

Finally got around to snapping a few pics of the new Case arrivals. First is the grail I was looking for, the Case Camp Teal Bone Sodbuster, made only for the Case Kids camp, very limited. I also threw in a new Case family shot, the collections getting pretty big with all these new case releases!

 What a group! Love the carved orange, I have a whittler coming in the same orange and I'm feeling pretty good about it after seeing yours.
